I think a lot of new players used to keep their heads down because if they were in a faction, then that faction could get warred on and destroyed if they brought to much attention to themselves, self preservation ruled ( most of the time ). Of course if you weren't being warred upon then you were negotiating extortion fees with larger factions ( or protection fees, which in general were honoured by the protecting faction ) So it paid to be respectful and respect was earned by the older players who kept their word. What do people do nowadays that earns respect from the wider community ?
Its happening to me too, never had problems using Microsoft internet explorer before. It only started happening about two days ago.

I know my mate met his wife on here, she was from America and him from the uk....... they took a chance, if it didn't work out then it was a free ( ish ) holiday....even after he got off the plane and she saw him in the flesh she resisted the urge to flee, which most normal people would do, now after three years of air travel, they're both happily married.

but then lets face it, we all want to win the PI but we can't, it's another way to get you to spend your hard ( term used loosely ) earned cash. Yes it may be predetermined but we still hit " start " and we still have our little routine before we hit " stop " in the desperate hope for a freebie. I'll keep chucking money at it though because one day the numbers might be on my side, that does sound like a gamblers attitude doesn't it ?
I started playing nine and a half years ago ( I'm a casual player )..... its mildly addictive, like the old game " Elite" for the old BBC micro ( which some older gamers might remember, and which is out again as elite dangerous... I'm hooked on that too ).
My kids have grown up telling their mates at school that dad goes online to do crimes and beat people up haha. Torn city back in the day was a real " eat or get eaten " game, factions came and went ( often overnight when you woke up, you were factionless ), aaaahhhh the bad old days were good fun, even as a younger no-hoper with no fighting stats.

It seems whenever a competition is introduced / started again for the mild entertainment of the torn populace, it instantly starts up the " it's not fair " threads...... maybe there should be a new award for these people, say " moaner of torn " or " whinger " ?

but back in the day we only had the four job options, which only paid a certain amount (and mugging) so it took a while to gain the capital to move up, nowadays we have companies paying silly money, people earn large amounts very quickly.... so maybe house should be more expensive and the add-ons should be a lot more too.
