Duke's Hammer should count as a hammer · · 4 likes

A couple of days ago I got the mission "A Thor Loser" - Use Duke's Hammer to hit 12 different body parts during attacks (12/12)

Due to unlucky fights I still needed a couple of body parts today. When I got the mission "Hammer Time" - Defeat {player} using only a hammer.

So I figured I'd get two birds with one stone and killed the person with Duke's Hammer. This did complete "A Thor Loser" but despite only using Duke's Hammer during the fight I did not complete "Hammer Time".

It makes sense to me that Duke's Hammer would be... a hammer. Which would mean I satisfied the conditions for both missions. It doesn't even seem to have that much better stats than a standard hammer.

Balance the 3* game shop perk · · 18 likes

The 3* game shop special "Early Release" gives you money for selling copies of a game early. It costs 100JP and you seem to get around $1,000,000+ or so:

You spent 100 job points distributing a game before the release date. You manage to make $1,208,599.
Compare that to the 10* perk "Overpowered" where you can spend 100JP and get 500 energy + 100 nerve + 2500 happy. I advice my employees to not bother using the 3* special. It just isn't worth the cost. The 10* special also only costs 1JP which means you don't have to spend the full amount at once.

From a brief look at the companies wiki page it seems like all of the other Money job specials (Happy Hour, Commission, Danger Money, etc) only cost 1 point (but I'm not sure how much you get or if it is anywhere near 100JP = $1 million.) So it seems like the other companies' Money perks work similarly to "Overpowered" already.

Even if giving more money isn't an option, because it is only a 3* special after all, maybe lowering the JP cost might make sense. The only thing I'm really interested in is the 10* perk anyway, but it seems like the 3* perk could use some balancing or at least aligning with the way the Money perks work from other company types.

Here is a comparison of the money perks as per the info on the wiki (if someone works in one of the jobs with an unknown payout and wants to share their info that would be appreciated):
  • Adult Novelties 1* - 1JP for ~$20k
  • Game Shop 3* - 100JP for ???? [1JP for ~12k from my test but wiki has no info]
  • Gents Strip Club 1* - 1JP for ???
  • Ladies Strip Club 1* - 1JP for ???
  • Oil Rig 1* - 1JP for ???
  • Property Broker 1* - 1JP for ???
You make a fair bit less per job point than the one company that shows the approximate payout amount (and it's for a lower star rating.) Every other company requires just 1 JP for for a money perk. Leaving the game store perk with a cost of 100JP just ensures no one will ever use it at the very least because they don't know how much it will get them (and it won't be worth it anyway) so the perk is just useless at is.

Aligning the game shop perk to only cost 1JP (but pay out at the rate per JP, not 1mil per JP) would make it actually useful, especially to the lower level characters that it is apparently for. Nobody is burning 100JP for a pittance of cash.

Customizable company descriptions · · 16 likes

Short description

Currently the only things you can really change about your company are the name and a banner image. I think it would be useful to have a company description as well. Here you could put things like minimum stat requirements, pay rates, (cool gifs [] ...), etc.

Example implementation

I see it as an additional text entry field like you have on forum posts or your profile either on the Company Profile tab or as a new tab. When viewing the profile it would look the same or similar to the way faction descriptions are displayed when looking at their information. Maybe some different border colour/styles to make the two types of pages visually distinct.

Justification

This would be a lot easier than the current situation where you have to search forum posts where the information is less convenient and therefor less likely to be updated than if it was directly on the company page. It would make things easier for job hunters as well since they could know about any requirements they are expected to meet. Companies would also be able to advertise any sign-on bonuses or other things that might entice new workers to their company.

I'm hoping that since the faction page already works this way that it would be a pretty easy change from a development perspective as well.

Van Wilder or Perpetual Student award for completing all of the bachelor degrees.

This would make completing your final bachelor a double merit. Since it takes years to get all of them that seems like a fair reward.

selling a 9* game shop... it's a good one · · 1 like

i just lost my tenth star this week. i've got good employees. it shouldn't be hard to get the 10* back. i just dunno that i care enough to put the effort in. mail me an offer if you're interested.

alternatively, if you've got 3k END and you want to join a game shop then maybe you can help me fix it back up

Okay, you have a point. I've updated the original post to include a comparison of the other money perks. I think it actually makes a stronger case that the behaviour of the the 3* Game Shop perk should be aligned with the other money perks.

Apologies to anybody I may have been snarky with... I've been having a rough week.

Well here is the info from the wiki. You may be surprised how very little info there is about payout amounts. (FYI I had already looked and it wasn't helpful which is why I asked for info from people who might actually know.)

Adult Novelties 1* - 1JP for ~$20k

Game Shop 3* - 100JP for ????

Gents Strip Club 1* - 1JP for ???

Ladies Strip Club 1* - 1JP for ???

Oil Rig 1* - 1JP for ???

Property Broker 1* - 1JP for ???

May as well be deleted.

IMHO that isn't a well designed system of payouts. Changing the game shop perk to only cost 1JP (but pay out at the rate per JP, not 1mil per JP) would make it actually useful, especially to the lower level characters that it is apparently for. Nobody is burning 100JP for a pittance of cash.

That would be useful information but I do not have it off hand. My suggestion was around the idea it would be better for a lower powered perk to not require a minimum of 100 JP. I get that if the 1JP cost perks may possibly end up giving you much less when you spend 100 JP compared to this one. Then it might make sense as it is, so I do see your point. Honestly, that wasn't something I considered. I can try to gather that data but I don't make any promises that it will come soon.

If anyone is in another company with a money perk feel free to share your info here. Thanks.

Given 100JP is a big chunk to spend all at once (especially for early game players) it would at least seem fair to give a rough payout range so that they can decide if it is worth spending such a large portion of their points.

This suggestion was just based on my having run a Game Shop for a long time and interacting with my employees in relation to this perk. (I am very often asked if it is worth it and the answer is an unequivocal "no.")

I don't actually know what the best answer is but I have discussed a few suggestions here and it seems like any of them would be better than it is now. (imho) There could be even better ideas I haven't thought of.

Of course, the devs know all the details so perhaps the lack of movement on this is indicative that I am indeed missing something. However, given the way things go here in the Suggestion forum that is a pretty big leap considering "wasn't noticed by anyone who would know (especially the devs)" is far far more likely.

Perhaps my use of the word "broken "wasn't entirely correct but I think the 3* perk here could be improved by making it work similarly to the others. By that I mean changing the amount of JP necessary to use it. I don't claim to have any secret knowledge and I was never talking about that anyway. If it really is meant to be an early game perk why should it take a month (at 3 stars; or 10 days at 10*) of being at the company before you can use it? Just saying "that's the way things are so that's the way it should be" isn't a compelling argument.

wow you're right. weird. my bad.

Then there is an incorrect space after the first comma *shrug*

Balance the 3* game shop perk ·

It's a 3* perk so, of course, it isn't the best but (as mentioned) it doesn't even align with the way the other money perks function. Just changing it to work like them would be an improvement. Just because you don't care that it is broken doesn't mean it can't be fixed.

On the main property page there is a missing space in the vault dollar amount formatting: There is $314,159,265 stored in the vault.

There should be a space after the last comma.

just yesterday i saw people in my faction chat talking about how this was a good perk for certain situations. i never use it really but apparently some have figured out a way to micro-optimise gains with it. this change would certainly make that much more than a micro-optimisation. so i'm not against the idea, but the perk may be more useful than people realise. (i'm too lazy to do the math and figure it out.)

personally, i think the "Early Release" money perk should be more balanced because it just isn't worth the JP it costs right now.

Item degradation over time or usage · · 5 likes

The workshop could even be part of some properties (probably higher level) and/or a job special could also repair items. This would give players another way of making income by repairing other player's weapons (and of course an opportunity for scams and drama lol) and another edu could make degradation happen slower.

I like this idea, but it is evil... hopefully they don't degrade too quickly lol.

i don't think it's a bad idea anyway... but maybe it (or something similar) is already planned as part of one of those "one day" updates in the future. wink laughing
