A long time ago (see, nothing like a novel.) "Chat" had a link on sidebar with information/links to IRC. I'm not sure why it was taken out, potentially because they bought in chatboxes and wanted people to use that? Or maybe because logs for cheatery cheaters from that were unusable unless they came from staff? (Anyone know?)
IRC is still used in factions (I'm assuming here...), for people in fed etc who need staff help and for Hamster giveaways. As well as all the other weird little reasons like the small communities who chit-chat/lotto/radio.
I wish it would be brought back into Torn's cityscape as a sidebar link or City link. I guess i wondered if anyone else would want it back? I miss the days when it was super busy in there, for nerdy text-based gamers IRC makes a lot of sense to me, and serves a different functionality to players and building community what chatboxes or forums do...
TL;DR - why is IRC still used for staffy reasons yet not linked/promoted in Torn outside of forums? Does anyone else miss it or think this kind of sucks?
Its kind of like stealth attacks (which i used to have on a long time ago and haven't used it again for ages now) - if you're going to attack someone, or bounty them, or downrate their dipshit post I think its good to have the ballz to attach your nick to it. Its just the right thing to do, in my mind anyway.
Plus its fun to stir shit with people you don't like right? Doing it sneakily isn't as fun because you're not starting a fight!

Yeah my thought were more that the name and the idea were the same, (rather than the wheel concept or use of the word mediocrity). That said I can accept that I know nothing about game development and how trademarks work so I don't think that will change that info thats been given.

I have been doing some further study recently and came into a bit of conflict with one of our lecturers around personality typing. They were preaching the "DISC" method which has four personality categories:
My main complaint with these types of tests is that they often make assumptions about the type of person you are; like if you are loud you are a good leader, if you are quiet you are creative, if you are artistic you are a good entrepeneur...etc. Maybe before the internet became a big thing these might have been true but mostly just seem like outdated ways of talking about people to me. Especially because when you are talking about things like leadership and entrepreneurs there are more and more examples of it being done a little bit differently by people and being amazing. Doesnt seem to be a one-kind-of-person deal.
I guess also because I am a quieter person I get frustrated with lists that note Quiet and Shy as bad things, or representative of not being a good leader etc.
All of this said I feel a bit differently about the Meyers-Briggs personality tests as they seem to type people without making a*****e inferences inside of those types.
Anyway just wondered if anyone else had thoughts about personality testing?
I am an INFJ on Meyers-Briggs, and came out as an S on the DISC one...
I really like the spinny-wheels....but I was a little surprised to see a "Wheel of Mediocrity" in Torn because I (like the elite gamer I am) still dabble in Neopets which has a spinny "Wheel of Mediocrity" that has been there for probably at least ten yearsish.
Would have assumed that with something as heavily trademarked as Neopets this would be an infringement of copyright or something by Torn?
Hmmm, yeah I will sound snotty saying this but I only like to give money to charities that I genuinely support. Also, I like having my tax deductibleness when I donate money. This isn't a terrible idea or anything just wouldn't exactly 'grate my carrot'.
Plus, most on our team do so many volunteer hours that if we averaged out our hourly rate to include it we would be earning welllll below minimum wage so no one is exactly doing it for the money.... I don't think we are an isolated example of this either)

This is just an internet RP game, not Facebook so I don't think perceptions around marriage matter at all as its not like our rl lives...if that makes sense.

Assuming this is a bug as I have had this stock BB before and it has paid out fairly regularly - have had this current block for 24 days and has not paid out once, other blocks paying out a whole bunch during this time.
Are you able to check this please?

I'm a part time enthusiast with reasonable good skills with Poi, Hooping and Devil Sticks and pretty basic skills in Juggling, Adagio, Contact Ball and Contact Staff. Really want to get a dragon staff and fire fans :x
Do a little bit of fire spinning (with pegasol) and a spend a fair amount of time with my LED poi and mini-hoops. Have a LED hoop as well but enjoy the minis much, much more as a general rule.
Make a lot of my own equipment, once I buy a house I want to get a Lyra (aerial hoop) because they are badass.
So...any other circus nerds on here? :]

No point arguing with someone like you - I never talked about Europe (because I am not European) and you are arguing with things I never said. My point remains that there is a spectrum and not everyone is PC c**t or a bigot there is a scale of normality in between. Goes both ways eejit. But enjoy.
Somewhere in here is a good point but you've written it like a jackass. 1/ The "left" huh? Would you like a broom for your sweeping generalisation?. 2/ This is a global forum so you might need to be a bit more specific about who "our" politicians are. 3/ There are a lot of big words here (some used incorrectly) but no specific examples of anything that can actually be discussed.
Sometimes PC stuff does get a bit too much but that in itself can't be used to sweep aside the actions of bigots, racists and otherwise generally garbage people. It isn't really cut and dry on what is being too PC and what is actually necesary - lots of shades of grey in there and if you can't see that then you are most definately part of the problem rather than the solution buddy.
On a day to day level the cause I give the most too is actually our local hospice...because they were amazing when my grampa had cancer and passed away... and that stuff sticks.
That said I do get the animals and evironment thing and in considering your question Wollo I guess Sovereignty is my biggest deal. Particularly at the moment it is tied in to our ecology and enviornmental priorities too - do people here know much about the TPPA? Basically a trade agreement between around 12 countries that makes a lot of compromises for a seemingly good economic deal while actually giving up a fair amount of our sovereignty as a nation state (NZ). This also freaks me out as I believe the Antartic Treaties expire in 2058 where it is expected that America and China will be racing to set up bases in NZ and Chile, which makes the concessions made in the TPPA a lot more scary. So yeah. Sovereignty and shit.
