"I have such sweet suffering in store for you".....that guy sounds like a little bitch and a big f*ckin nerd, even ended with a lame-ass signature "47"---NEEEERRD, LOL.
I'm a nerd myself, but that's too damn nerdy, I only see that sh*t in movies with cliche characters.
"It's to make your life so miserable here that you won't want to play anymore"----DAAAMN, that's the worst line you could drop if you were 10 and you were at a children's playground.
Torn is fun and all, and I love it to bits, I'm even a Sub here in Torn, but to take Torn that seriously and to actually exert all that time and effort to harass someone, not torn-harass, but to real-life harass someone, sounds to me like they have no real life outside of their text-based browser game.
If his faction-mates support that childish behavior then they should think reaaaal hard about the person they're virtually hanging out with.
I just wish "Castle Doctrine" is applied here in the Philippines.
I'm a gun owner, to own guns, I must go through extensive background checks, prove I have the income and reason to own, neuro-psycho exams, drug tests, police clearance, NBI clearance(our ver of FBI), local clearances, and then file and submit everything at our local provincial police headquarters. All of which I need to renew every 2 years. THEN, apply for a separate license for each firearm that's to be renewed every 4 years. THEN apply for a separate Permit to Carry for each firearm(pistol and pistol-caliber SBRs only)
After all those requirements proving I am a functioning member of society, if a robber broke into my house and I shot him dead, I need to face the consequence of my action, spend my own money in court and prove that I shot and killed the robber for self-defense. There is no law that protects me even if I am just protecting my home.
I hate that criminals get the same protection as me, I hate that their "human rights" are as important as mine when those criminals choose not to honor my human rights and the human rights of their other victims.
Imma get a little political now.
People in high horses and out of touch with reality think that less and more lenient punishments against criminals equals a more civilized society. They actually believe that a literal slap in the hand will make criminals "change their ways" and magically have an enlightening and become the model citizens that rehabilitation proposes. That system didn't even work with children, we can all now see that how spoiled and ill-equipped those children who grew up just getting a tiny slap and participation trophies. THE PROBLEM is that they want all the countries in the world to follow suit.
Hi guys, this might have been suggested already, and i know a lot of people might not like this but here goes.
One of the reason why i think Torn's economy and stock market is all messed up is because there is no supply and demand cycle that involves expiration and degradation. I have medical items and candies and other food that had been sitting on my items list for almost a decade, in real life that would not happen, they would obviously expire.
My guns and weapons have also seen a decade worth of war and battle, but remain in pristine condition, not a single dent.
Jewelry made of gold and diamonds are useless because they have absolutely no use in Torn, in real life however, jewelries are valuable and considered as investments comparable to real estate because they do not deteriorate easily and will last lifetimes.
My suggestion would be to add an expiration or degradation value on items, not game breaking expiration or degradation where you could only use your dual samurai sword for 10 swings and it's broken, Torn is a very slow paced game where i am already on my 10th year in Torn, therefore degradation and expiration might take a long time depending on the items,
- medicines may last 6 months to a year, they would just disappear from the item list or show up as a new item "expired morphine" which causes some bad effects
- guns would deteriorate because of parts breaking and would need fixing(gun parts might not be necessary but could be added), the more a gun is degraded the more likely it would jam during a fight, melee weapons might be dulled or broken that would cause a smaller damage.
- armours would decrease in rating and would totally be useless because patching a bullet hole is not advisable.
- FHCs would have a "promo duration" where it should be used within said time frame
- jewelries would not expire but there would be a scarcity of it.
- drugs would also expire(if they do expire) and would have negative effects to the users.
- enhancers would also wear out due to constant use of each respective action, the large suitcase might and pair of glasses might break, wind proof lighter might run out of fluid, slim crowbar might break or bent beyond repair, tracking device might just break, etc.
- electrical devices might get old and simply stop working or some would get phased out(i'm looking at you xbox) which would give it collector's value
- flowers wither and therefore need to be exchanged right away
- plushies might take a long time to deteriorate and there should have less points when exchanged
- cars break down
- viruses become outdated due to improving anti-virus softwares
- others.
If this gets implemented, there would be a semblance to a supply and demand cycle, where supply deteriorates, expires or becomes outdated, demand increases, some items suddenly become valuable and some items become less valuable depending on how Torn's market reacts, those jewelries would become valuable like real life because they do not deteriorate.
It would also jumpstart the stock market, Big Al's Gun Shop mostly gets its revenue from ammo and temporary weapons and not much else, if guns started breaking down like in real life, then people would have a reason to buy the same guns again and again. or have Big Al repair their guns. TCHS and SYM could have more sales and increase their market value, etc.(i'm really no expert and just blabbing things out)
as shown in the screenshot below, all the icons in the item market sidebar have been moved down from their proper place, and instead of the knife icon representing the 'melee weapon', there's a folder
I just wish "Castle Doctrine" is applied here in the Philippines.

I don't think there's an "american toilet" or "british toilet", are you guys high? There ARE a multitude of toilet designs with every company having their own swing at the 'standard' idea of the toilet. The toilet water level has nothing to do with the toilet's nationality and has more to do with how it was designed, but the main idea of the toilet water is to keep the gases from the septic tank or the sewer line to come up the pipes and out the toilet and not to catch your disgusting poop. If the toilet water dried up, your whole bathroom would stink up.
Did you report the picture to staff? If you reported it then staff would have taken it down, but no, you wanted to post it in the forums and wanted the staff who accepted it removed even though it might have gone past staff without seeing the nazi salute but instead the staff saw it as a waving hand or a talk to the hand gesture. IF you had reported it accordingly then staff would have done something.
It would be equivalent to having a police officer fired for letting a person he just flagged down and ticketed for speeding go without knowing that person had just robbed a house and killed a person.
I was a Tae Kwon Do varsity in High School and was practicing for years before joining varsity, though i stopped at blue belt by my own decision so i can kick some black belt ass and it would be more humiliating for my opponent because he lost to a blue belt.
However, without continuing my martial art, i've grown a lot bigger and heavier, though i can still throw kicks and fancy spinning foot work, i can't kick as high as i used to be able to and the spirit of splits have left my body.
Yes, i think facebook has an edit history where everyone can click and see all the changes made in the edit history if the comment is marked "edited", this could be implemented in torn also, but i don't know how hard or easy it would be to code this as i have very little background in coding and programming.
example of which:
edited last 01/12/17 : hey whar's up mste~
edited last 01/14/17 : hey what's up mste!
edited last 01/15/17 : hey what's up mate!
(fyi : my country [The Philippines] uses the month/date/year format if anyone would be confused by my example. We use both English/Imperial and Metric system and both Celsius and Fahrenheit, and at times have to adjust with everyone both using date/month/year and month/date/year......we adjust a lot)
Well, i started playing Torn 10 years ago when i was a college student, i'm a licensed and practicing architect now, i have my own small construction company in real life and build houses and commercial buildings, i also have my own side businesses, all throughout my 10 years of playing Torn, i have had a number of girlfriends, i still live with my parents because i'm Asian, we don't move out until we get married and build our own house for our own family though i have an apartment in the capital city of my country when i worked corporate before opening businesses which i visit when i go to the capital city for breaks.
All other players have their own real life also aside from playing Torn and we all probably give a shit about this game.

White people should slow down on bringing up the racist card everytime a cultural reference is raised. Look, i understand your suggestion and where it's coming from and i think you only want something positive out of it and your heart is in the right place.
The problem is that most white people have not experience racism first-hand and therefore do not know how they look like, a lot of those white people who have not experienced racism are usually the ones who make overly politically correct statements, and that's a problem because it trivializes racism, it makes racism look like a cartoon when it is actually a documentary(metaphor).
Let's look at the torn joke, If we change "Japan" with "America" "Japanese" with "American", "horse" with "deer", "man" with "hunter" and "chopstick" with "shotgun" and if there's an event about deer racing we get:
"Deer meat is a delicacy in America, which is why all the best American racing deers are trained by having a hunter chase them with shotgun."
It's the very same context but because it's not about some exotic culture, it doesn't sound racist.
You see, racism happens only if one race degrades another race, if a rude comment is made between two races that doesn't involve race, it's not racist at all.
example: A Japanese man is rushing to get somewhere and bumps into a white man, the white man angrily says to him "hey watch out you idiot you nearly tripped me over the sidewalk" -----that is not racist, the white man called the Japanese man an idiot for bumping into him and nearly tripping him over the sidewalk and not because he is Japanese.
another example : A black man was walking along a clothing shop when he turned his head to look at some clothes when his hand accidentally touched a white woman's butt who was also walking in front of him, the white woman calls out "hey you pervert *******, why did you touch my butt?" -----that is not racist and also not sexual harassment, the white woman called him a pervert ******* because she assumed that he had touched her butt as a man, and the black man did not touch her butt on purpose.
REAL RACISM LOOKS LIKE THIS:
A white woman is walking to her car in a parking lot, sees a Filipina nurse who is on the other side of the parking lot, but goes out of her way to go to the Filipina and shouts "I don't like you people here in my country, go back to China you slanted eye morons, you only destroy our great country with your stupidity and filth." ----this is racist and ignorant, first, she generalizes all Asian people as Chinese, she shouts profanity at the Filipina for being a foreigner and not because of some action that's directly caused by the Filipina, she makes a rant that totally discredits the centuries worth of history of Filipinos or any other Asians in America and makes it appear like Asian people have only migrated to America recently and is destroying the country. The sad part of it all is that this is a true story, there's a video of this event, look for it in the internet.
Again, if we call out every little cultural reference as racism, it trivializes REAL RACISM and is therefore counter-productive in making the world racism-free.
hmmmm, i think it was 2010 when Ched put a cap on the points market or something(forgot exactly), and everyone just stopped selling points, the price of donator packs then skyrocketed to 16-23mil per pack from 1.5mil just 2 years earlier and 2.5mil a few months before the event, i think that was that time, in my opinion, Torn's economy collapsed and why we're all buying crap for millions of bucks. I mean, 1.5mil was a freaking huge amount of money then, only a handful of filthy rich individuals had P.I. and all the plebs were living in crappy trailers or semi-detached houses, the steyr aug was a prized weapon for it's "high value", imagine spending 23mil on something you used to buy for only 1.5m, i lost my donator status because i couldn't donate due to my country's difficulty in transacting via paypal, and my only source of donator packs was the market.
Also, i think it was in 2012 or 2013 when the stock market was changed, "bots" no longer bought stocks immediately as soon as they were sold to be sold to future buyers, so if stock prices were at an all time high or are spiraling down the cliff, you can't sell your stocks to cut losses or reap the benefits, your stocks were put on a queue list and you had to wait for somebody to buy them, i think it's now back to the old one but it sort of broke the stock market, i was making hundreds of millions then buying and selling but now i just have my stocks for the perks.
I would recommend Insurgency, it's realistic but not too slow-paced, I would say, it's kinda like playing milsim airsoft, you try to be careful a lot working with teammates clearing areas and checking out corners as the enemies can kill you with one bullet, and being killed just cuts your screen to black and it won't give you a kill view so you won't know where the enemy was hiding. Weapons are highly customizable and I say I love that the devs didn't nerf the guns so they would be balanced, you will be killed by a handgun as easily as a rifle.
It's not as hardcore as Arma 3 but it's a good game, maybe a mix of COD, Battlefield and Arma.
i bought it last week at 75% off on Steam, though the sale is over now is still fairly cheap.
I'm in my 9th year in torn right now, I've quit torn twice in those nine years, i'm a very casual player, i mostly do stock market and selling stuff i get from the stocks i own right now and not much else.
Instead of totally quitting torn, I suggest you should login maybe once a week or so or if you find a time to check in on torn, everytime you login, you could be a secret santa or something, maybe send someone you think genuinely needs help something to help them out, maybe a dozen xanax, or an FHC, small to medium things that they could use to improve, or sell to buy things they need.
All it takes to help someone achieve greatness is a little push in the right direction. Everything I have done in torn was thanks to a single event, i found a skateboard in the city long ago when i was just starting to save up, used that to jumpstart my bank investment, invested all the interest i earned, did that cycle for maybe a year or so until i reached the cap, then used the money to buy stocks, PI, weapons, and everything i needed in torn.
That one FHC you'll send to someone worthy(or random) could make that person the top player in torn in the future, that's something.
As a player for NINE YEARS, yep, NINE YEARS, i'm actually quite surprised right now that it's been NINE YEARS, i thought for a second it's been only 4 or 5, i started playing when i was a teenager on my first year of college, i, like so many other players here, have built up our accounts for years, those are energy, energy refills and xanax usage that cannot be replicated for less the time because there is no way to go around the energy recovery rate, sure you can use boosters but they too have their own recovery timer.
What people have invested is REAL-LIFE TIME, not money, not game time, not sheer will, but REAL-LIFE TIME.
This is not some fad video game that sheer will alone gets you to finish the game in 3 hours, nor is it some hip new MMORPG game that by sheer will and addiction pushes you up to the maximum level with all the coveted armor and weapons in a few days.
Torn is like real life, those people who were born 10 years before you of course have already finished their education, are now in some position in their workplace, have built up their business, or have done a lot more than you, and no amount of sheer will can help you finish 120 units in college in under a month, it's not like you're collecting a certain amount of 'slime' from a specific creature, by sheer will you can finish it in a minute while those with less will finishes it in a week.
It's silly to ask everyone in real life to go back to kindergarten so you and your generation can "catch up".
Like real life, there's no warm welcomes except those closest to you, the moment you are born you are thrown into the competition of life, as a baby, there's always "the biggest smile" and the "cutest" competition, as a child up to your young adult life, your arena becomes the school/college, as an adult, it becomes your workplace or business. You can choose to actively compete energetically, or you can choose to just passively live the competition and enjoy life.
Like real life, learn from those before you, build yourself up, don't compare yourself to other more established people who have naturally had a headstart in life, simply do what you do and make your own life decisions, etc., yada yada.
yep, there is inflation, if you have been playing as long as i have(8 years) and a lot of other players here, you'd know that the inflation right now is through the atmosphere . . i remember the time when i actually spent months doing crap crimes and actually mugging people for pennies so i can buy the Steyr Aug, and the Steyr Aug was a frickin' expensive commodity at that time, it was used for grand prizes in earlier forum contests.
every dollar you made in Torn mattered and getting mugged for 10 bucks made me furious(okay, it made me let out a faint sigh, but still)
i remember points costing just 6k each, and a donator pack cost 600k(simply because it gave you 100 points), then DPs went for 1.2m and 1.5m, it slowly rose up to 2.5m for a long time then 3m . . then sh*T happened.
A price cap was put on the points market(it was a few years back), Torn's economy suddenly went crap, nobody was selling points, everybody was hoarding their precious precious points, and those who cannot buy donator packs due to limitations in using a credit card online had none, my donator status was revoked because i could not buy points or even donator packs as donator pack prices suddenly sky rocketed from 3m to as much as 75m or so
when the points' price cap was lifted the damage has been done, it left the economy at an inflated state, prices never went back to when it was before.
