If you think you're paying money to England or that you have enough oil to sustain yourselves, you're deluded. Scottish use of the pound should they become independent is debated, perhaps not by the Scottish nationalists but certainly by the English. There will be squabbles at the very least if we don't want a currency union. You don't even have a guarantee of joining the EU (after having left a member state).

Be careful when rejecting propaganda and replacing it with nationalistic pride.

as for the talk about national currency yes lets talk about that (other than the fact Alistair Downing public stated the use of the pound in scotland would be accepted). During the massive crisis in greece there were massive calls to have greeces use of the euro removed but found that this would caused more of a problem for the euro removing them and so germany were to give over 100 billion euros to the country.

Now when you consider this, a country which is richer than greece in terms of GDP and with half the population which accounts for near 10% of the userbase of the pound is being told (well isn't but for your point we'll say it is) that it wont be able to use the pound. If that were to happen the pound itself would crash to an all time low, which it seems to currently be doing with talks about the pound removal from 10% of the current users. Do you think england would happily have its currency drop to an all time low with impossibility of it ever getting near the value it once was... over pride? "you may go but if you do we'll make it as hard as possible for you"

There's so much talk about scotland being in the wrong for wanting to be its own nation and i find it laughable. The main reason for the vote isn't even a matter of "scotland will be richer k thx" - it's a matter of being able to vote on matters that affect the country. Right now scotland make 8.3% of the population of the uk and get that much representation in terms of voting, why is it fair that we as a country have to accept laws we don't vote on? england are more than happy to moan and talk about this happening to them in the EU but god help scotland if they do the same right? We didn't vote for the NHS funding changes, we didn't vote for fracking in the north sea, we didn't vote for a lot of things but because they pass with an english majority we have to accept them? to that i say f**k off, i can only hope we leave this union for that reason alone and when england votes to leave the EU (and with their current UKIP ratings i wonder how long that'll be) that we as scotland will be re-joining.
