Me and my girlfriend have been having general inconveniences with current property and vault management. Currently how things work for us is that she sends me what she makes and I store it in the vault along with my earnings as we save up for whatever upgrade or item or whatever we are looking at. All the money is in my control and that isn't always a good thing, as I tend to get that desire to gamble and try my luck, and end up losing my money as well as hers more times than not. We've talked this over multiple times and gave me an allowance of sorts for what I can gamble every week. So far it's going good, but the temptation is still there, and to be honest, I have come close to betting more than we agreed on. This poses a problem as she cannot see what is in the vault, and thus cannot keep track of what I am spending, making her reliant on my honesty to her (and she knows I do not want to betray that trust, as I will regret it IRL).
My Proposition!
For spouses ingame, give the owner an option to "share the vault". This would come with 3 types of vault sharing.
Type 1: Transaction details only. There would be a new Transaction details in the vault, like in factions and companies, that shows money put in and taken out by each person. This would let my girl see if I am really keeping to my allowance, and keep me honest about it beyond my word.
Type 2: Deposit permissions. Including the above type, this would add on the ability for one's spouse to deposit funds into the vault, thus removing me as a middleman in that bit, and letting each of us see how much each person has contributed.
Type 3: Full permissions. This would in effect give the spouse the same full permissions as the property owner to deposit, withdraw, everything (except manage permissions).
Extra features:
Deposit value: Gives a value to each person, positive and negative, like the old faction way. This would allow each person to know if the other is taking more than they put in and who is the primary breadwinner.
Allowance: This would be a mutually agreed upon amount that would be approved by both members via an event or something of the sort. This would restrict how much each individual can withdraw within any given time period or at all. If one of the individuals wishes to have a raise, permanent or temporary/one time, they can make a request to their significant other, and they can approve or decline it.
Upgrade and pay upkeep from the vault: This would all be recorded in the transaction details, and could be restricted to be approved by both individuals via the options, so one doesn't just waste everything on a property upgrade without the other's consent. This would not send either individual into the negative, but rather decrease their contribution value by the amount the upgrade cost until the reached $0 value, where the rest of the cost would be be only deducted from the spouse with a positive amount. Potentially allow the upgrades of other owned properties from here as well, removing need to move in and out of properties you wish to upgrade.
Big cost purchases via the vault(?): This one may see some negative thought, but it's idea would be the same as the upgrade purchases being charged directly to the vault. It wouldn't apply to items you'd find on the item market, the casino, or loan payoffs, but rather to things like purchasing a faction, company, or other property.
Simple scam protection: With the deposit/withdraw tracker, this would help in fighting scams. If one of the 2 divorce, thinking they can quickly withdraw all the cash (assuming they didn't give eachother an allowance), the moment of divorce, the vault would pay to the non-owner what they deposited, If that means taking from the owner's wallet (and maybe sending them into the negative?) then it will be so. And if the non-owner was in the negative for withdrawing more from the vault than they deposited, then they would have the appropriate amount deducted from their on-person funds in the same manner. This can be avoided as the one who is owed money from the other (the one who may be being cheated), will be given an event/notification asking if they wish to have the other pay what is owed, thus preventing issues when a spouse divorces and intentionally gave the other money to go with them for whatever reason.
That's all I have for right now on this idea, if you have any comments, amendments, or other suggestions to add, please leave a comment and I will look into your thoughts.
Ya, I totally get that and it truly sucks when devs never finish the game :/ I've only been with this team about 2 weeks now, but I can see they're very dedicated to this game with weekly team meetings and the lead dev constantly on call with me. The game will be leaving Alpha on September 10th though! And the current goal to go out of Early Access is set for November (October if we can get rid of all the bugs fast enough~). We will have a ton of extra features and general improvements to everything with the Beta update, giving users a longer and better experience while playing compared to the alpha!
Well, I'm not going to give my normal spiel here, as I'm not promoting (not sure the rules on this category for that), I'm here to ask for your honest feedback!
Full disclosure, I'm the PR dude for this game, Empires of Creation. I started last week because I thought it was a fun game and was giving the developer alot of indepth feedback, so he asked if I was interested in joining the team.
Anywho, this game is a Space Sandbox where you command a fleet of spaceships in your goal of total conquest or to make alliances with the galaxy's empires. The game will be leaving alpha and entering it's beta phase on September 11th, so we've been doing our best to make sure all the core content is ready and as bug free as possible~
If you'd like to check out the game, our steam page is here: http://store.steampowered.com/app/412250
We're also hosting a weekly giveaway of 2 keys a week until the beta launch! You can find more info on that posted here: https://twitter.com/eoc_game/status/761695040594964480
We really would love your thoughts and feedback on the game, as we want to make it as good as we possibly can!
If you guys want a Sci-Fi sandbox game where you play the commander of a fleet were your goal is to either conquer or befriend the empires of the galaxy, Empires of Creation is a fun game ^_^ It's going into beta on September 11th!
(Disclaimer, I am the PR dude for this game >.> don't ask for reveiw copies, you can always enter for a chance to win in our weekly giveaways at our twitter: https://twitter.com/eoc_game Any other questions and comments I can happily answer ^w^ but this is honestly a fun little game, simple and minimalistic, but still fun~)
Well with this, it seems like it will be easier to run a faction with them, for as long as it's obvious we're not multis there won't be an issue. Before It would be really risky to do anything with them or to help them out in any way, and it also means my girlfriend and I can log in when visiting eachother ^_^ Sure, all this could be done before, but now I feel I don't have to worry about getting them banned XD
I'll occasionally bump this thread to keep it from getting too dead, but I am waiting to see what Ched and the gang have in store for the changes they mentioned~
Personally, I'm glad they have a more effective way to detect multies and have lifted the same ip block! I can finally drag my cousins into the depths of Torn City :3
well, both married and unmarried persons will be entering, so if you want to be pc, you gotta cover all your bases XD don't wana go offending anyone, do we (*cough*couldn't give a damn*cough).
Of course, if it was merely my gambling issue then that would be the choice I would have made, but I'm using this as an opportunity to give an example of how my issue, which is probably common on here, can be resolved along with many others. It's what I relate to the most, and this would be my ideal way of handling the situation, So I share my thoughts with the community, get their input, and modify my original idea when others give their own thoughts that I agree with. But that's how suggestions work in general XD
Certainly you can see the benefit for other situations in general with all the other parts of the idea as well, and how they totally outweigh the potential (but unlikely) abuse of the multi minorities.
And I agree, vaults don't hold nearly enough, but hopefully if this idea is implemented, it'll open up the path to increase that cap and eliminate factions that only exist for banking purposes
