Yes, I'm afraid it's a platform issue that directly affect specific Pixel and Android versions. Other apps that use Flutter have had the same problem, unfortunately.
We've tested a fix in beta and it seems to be working correctly, so I'll try to expedite the release as much as I can (but it will still take some days for reviews, approvals, etc).
Are you using a beta/dev/canary version of the Android Webview?

Clear your browser cache and see if that fixes the missing desktop mode checkbox. If you are on Android, you can also try to tap the page title in the browser and using the zoom controls in the dialog that shows up.
