Players build a Dirty Bomb List from memory and old threads

A list started from an old forum thread

IIIlusionist [253384] opened the thread "Dirty Bomb List" in General Discussion on 28 Nov 2014. They said they had seen an earlier thread on the old forum, but it was incomplete.^[1][2]

The opening post asked for the date dropped, the ID of the dropper, the target faction and the respect lost. It then listed entries, starting with JamilB [94287] against Devastation on 3/03/2008, with respect lost given as 10,321.^[1]

Entries added from memory and screenshots

_Cynic_ [206537] said they had dropped three in total: the first on 39th, the second on Ched's test faction, which was wiped, and the third on YoungBlaze, which was also wiped. They described the second as the first faction wiped because of a dirty bomb. Participant claim^[3]

The account 249533 [249533] pasted the in-game text for the bomb on The Art of War and wrote that they ended up with only 300 respect left. The opening post lists WickedPrincess [249533] as the dropper, with 12,062 respect lost on 8/02/2011.^[1][4]

Hank [1732212] posted what they called the Calculating DB. They said the actual respect loss was only 2107 because the respect had been used to upgrade the faction minutes earlier. The pasted log showed 21,627 respect lost. Participant claim^[5]

MarlonBrando [1337797] posted a longer list of what they called confirmed bombs, including several on factions abbreviated SA and FTW. One entry had the faction Helvete almost zeroed, at 3 respect. Participant claim^[6]

Other players offered recollections. ghosty [1348728] remembered JimmyJames [581165] dropping one and a bomb on the original Equaliser. Daisy3 [730750] said SkibZy dropped one. Evil-Duck [1182047] said they had dropped a couple. Participant claim^[7][8][9]

Calls to keep it as history

RichardV [1103695] wrote that a list should go in the hall of fame because these events are part of Torn's history. They also asked who used the first one.^[10]

ghosty [1348728] wrote "well done" to IIIlusionist and said the list should be in the Hall of Fame.^[7]

Not everything was on topic. Pluto [541636] used a post to argue over the meaning of "dropped" and to mock a poster as a yank. Tigrrrrrr [132684] called someone a joker who had hijacked the name AoW. MarlonBrando [1337797] posted AoW material that drew dislikes.^[11][12][13]

Torn officer mug [553318] wrote on 6 Mar 2015 that JFA would instantly lose to a dirty bomb and named SA as a second guess. Officer megalomaniacal [1542618] wrote on 30 Mar 2015 that it would be useful to record which faction dropped the bomb, and called it a great thread.^[14][15][16]

Later use as a reference

On 30 Sep 2015 boo [1544641] wrote that the thread should be updated instead of people starting new dirty bomb threads to boost their karma.^[17]

On 27 Mar 2015 Hank [1732212] cited the list in another thread. They said that, according to it, which they called somewhat incomplete, one bomb was the most devastating by respect lost. Participant claim^[18]

Players linked the thread in other dirty bomb threads on 10 Jun 2015, 13 May 2016 and 7 Jun 2016. On 30 Aug 2016 mug [553318] used it to look up a bomb dropped by alguem [60666] on 30/09/2015, which had no reason listed.^{[19][20][21][22]}

On 10 Dec 2020 Penetration [2340613] added an entry for rapid_riser [262223] against Born Fighting/Corrupted Mindz Mafia, dropped 14/12/2015. The reason given is Penetration's account of events. Participant claim^[23][24]
