Chain bonus respect
What TornLife's research has established about Chain bonus respect, and the questions players asked about it.
What TornLife has verified
- In March 2018 Chedburn queried a claim that the new respect system disadvantaged low-level factions on a chain of the same length. He asked if a new-player faction produced 39% less total respect than a veteran HoF faction. (confirmed by Torn; Faction Wars even more Unfavourable to New Players, )
- Attack respect bonuses per the patch history: retaliation x1.5, overseas x1.25, group attack depreciating x1.25 per extra attacker, war attacks x2. Bonuses combine and can be further increased by chaining. Targets in a faction lose 10% of respect gained. (confirmed by Torn; Faction/Patch History (7/7), )
- There are 13 bonus hits with flat respect and cooldowns: #10 10 (60 s), #25 20 (150 s), #50 40 (5 min), #100 80 (10 min), #250 160 (25 min), #500 320 (50 min), #1,000 640 (1h40), #2,500 1280 (4h10), #5,000 2560 (8h20), #10,000 5120 (16h40), #25,000 10,240 (1d17h40), #50,000 20,480 (3d11h20), #100,000 40,960 (6d22h40). Warlord does not apply to them. (documented; Chain › How to Chain, )
- Chain scale multiplier applies beyond the 10th hit, rising slowly from 1x to 2x for chains between 10 and 100,000, by 0.25 * Log_10(x) + 0.75 where x is the hit number. The 1,337th hit gets 1.53x. It is not applied at bonus hits. (documented; Chain › Gaining respect › Chain scale, )
