What is the best training routine to grow battle stats quickly?

Current guides agree on the basic routine. Train each full energy bar in one go after using as much candy as you can, all within one quarter-hour. Then train a 30-point refill, and from level 15 add 1 to 3 Xanax a day, training each one straight away[1][2][3]. Happy jumps give bigger single sessions, but guides disagree on whether they pay off[4][2][1]. Two 2026 beginner guides favour heavily training one defensive stat so you reach specialist gyms sooner. That is their view, and both guides also call balanced training fine or viable[5][6].

The daily routine

  1. Start with a full energy bar. Use as many candies as you can, then train all of it in one go, in the stat your faction's Steadfast perk boosts if it has one[1][7].
  2. If you have the points, buy an energy refill (30 points for another 150 energy) and train it all[1][2].
  3. After level 15 only, take a Xanax and train all that energy in one go[1].
  4. For the rest of the day, repeat steps 1 and 3 whenever your energy is full or nearly full[1].

Viduata's July 2026 guide says to finish each round within the same quarter-hour so you don't lose the extra happiness[1]. Levelling fast does not raise battle stats and may leave you weaker, because energy spent attacking is not spent in the gym (a 2019 player guide)[8]. A September 2026 guide says to put all energy into the gym from level 15, except for chaining, missions and easy merits[3].

Xanax

Each Xanax gives +250 energy and +75 happiness, adds 35 Addiction Points and lowers all battle stats by 35% while active[9][10]. The cooldown is 360-480 minutes[9]. An overdose costs 5000 minutes of hospital time[9]. Viduata suggests one a day at first, rising to two and then three as your money allows, without financially crippling yourself[1]. The September 2026 guide says to take at least 1 a day and up to 3 after level 15, when rehab becomes available, and to rehab when addiction reaches -4%. It warns that overdosing risks losing your education and lowers work performance[3]. The wiki listed Xanax's market value at $837,450 in June 2025, so the price may have moved since[11].

Energy sources

  • Natural energy: a donator's natural bar maxes at 150[2].
  • Point refill: 30 points for 150 energy[2].
  • Xanax: +250 energy, 360-480 minute cooldown[9].
  • LSD: +50 energy and +200-500 happiness, but -30% to Speed and Dexterity[12].
  • Ugly Energy book: +100 to maximum energy and energy refills for 31 days (wiki capture from 2023)[13].
  • Energy cans and FHC: a 2019 guide lists cans at 20-30 energy with a 2 hour booster cooldown, and FHC as refilling the bar with a 6 hours booster cooldown[14]. A 2018 guide called both expensive[15]. The sources cited give only 2018-2019 figures for cans and FHC.

Happiness and happy jumps

Happiness has a large effect on gym gains, most of all at low stat levels, but Torn has not revealed exactly how much it adds[16]. The wiki's gains formula multiplies modifiers, gym dots and energy per train by a term that rises with happiness and stat total. Its constants are estimates[17].

  • Standard jump: stack 1,000 energy with Xanax over several drug cooldowns and let the cooldown expire. Then use 5 Erotic DVDs, take Ecstasy to double your happiness, and train all 1,000 energy in one go[18][19][20].
  • Console jump (Raze, May 2026), for players under 250k in the target stat: needs a max property (5,025 base happy), donator status and a 5* Toy Shop or Game Shop perk. Stack 900 energy with 3 Xanax, then spend 300 energy on 60 'Hardcore Game' console actions and add candy to reach ~18,750 happiness. Take Ecstasy to reach ~37,500, then train 750 energy including a refill[2].
  • Raze puts the console jump at ~3.6m against ~24.4m for a standard jump, but the captured text does not show the unit or basis of those totals. He names slower gym unlocks as the catch[2].
  • Ecstasy doubles happiness, with a 200-230 minute cooldown and 20 Addiction Points[12].

Guides disagree on whether jumps are worth it. A 2018 guide said happiness matters most under 200,000 in each stat[20]. HOU5E (2019) and George_1000 (2020) put the cut-off at 400k[4][18]. HOU5E said choco jumps give the best gains per dollar below that, and that importing Xanax once a day roughly covers the cost[4]. Viduata's July 2026 guide calls happy jumping a money sink that does not beat making the most of natural energy over a long period[1].

Stat split

Older guides said balanced stats were best until special gyms unlock[19][18]. In 2019 HOU5E argued that balanced stats fight better but uneven stats gain more per energy, and he advised prioritising snowballing stats over training evenly from level 1[4]. Two 2026 beginner guides describe the current meta as heavily training one defensive stat (Defense or Dexterity) to unlock special gyms earlier. They add that balanced training is fine for beginners, that both paths are viable, and that switching later is slow and expensive[5][6]. Shwayko's 2025 guide has you reach ~10M in all four stats first, then train Strength highest and Speed second, with a third stat at least half of the second-highest[21]. One player argued in 2023 that Dexterity makes a better main defensive stat than Defense[22].

Gyms (wiki capture Dec 2023)

Gym tierEnergy/trainDotsUnlock costSource
Light-weight52.0 to 4.0$10 to $10,000[23]
Middle-weight104.0 to 6.0$50,000 to $5,000,000[24]
Heavy-weight106.0 to 7.3$7,500,000 to $100,000,000[25]
Frontline Fitness (Str/Spd)257.5$50,000,000[26]
Single-stat specialists508.0$100,000,000[26]

The wiki's gym tables and gains formula were captured in December 2023, so costs and dots may have changed since[26][17][25].

Training earns Gym Experience, which unlocks new gyms, and each new gym charges a membership fee[27]. Each single-stat specialist gym needs George's unlocked and its stat 25% above your second-highest stat[26]. Frontline Fitness needs Cha Cha's unlocked and Strength + Speed 25% above Dexterity + Defense[26]. According to a 2026 poster, Balboas needs Defense + Dexterity 25% above Strength + Speed. The same poster thinks George's 7.3 and Balboas's 7.5 differ very little in practice[28].

Gain multipliers

  • Get Hard Or Go Home book: +20% to all gym gains for 31 days[29].
  • Single-stat gym books: +30% gym gains in one stat for 31 days[30].
  • Faction Steadfast: +1% per level to gym trains in its stat[7].
  • Fitness Center specials: 10* gives 3% gym gains, and 3* halves the happiness you lose in the gym[31].
  • Merits (3% per upgrade), education and the Fight Like An Asshole book (passive 25% to all stats) are passive boosts to your battle stats, not gym-gain modifiers[32][33][34].

By stage

StageWhat guides suggestSources
Starting out (2021 guide)All energy in the gym until 150 or 200 trains in each stat[35]
Days 1-30 (May 2026 guide)All energy in the gym, Strength and Speed first, aiming for 300-400 in each stat[36]
Level 15+The daily routine plus 1 Xanax, scaling to 3; rehab at -4% addiction[1][3]
Low stats, spare cashStandard or console jumps, bearing in mind the cost debate[2][4][1]

Where sources disagree

  • Older guides favour balanced stats until special gyms unlock[19][18]; HOU5E in 2019 and two 2026 guides favour uneven training toward one stat, with the 2026 guides favouring a defensive stat, to reach specialist gyms sooner[4][5][6].
  • Raze's May 2026 guide presents console jumps as the most cost-effective method for players under 250k[2]; Viduata's July 2026 guide calls happy jumping a money sink that does not beat making the most of natural energy over time[1].
