Hello I am currently the leader of a faction of close players. We all started playing about the same time and many of us are friends in reality lol. We have a faction together and we are all fairly active. Daily at the minimum of times.
But I am having issues growing. The respect gains are slow and we really want to start getting into chaining and having some fun with other factions.
Any advice on where i should put my respect in order to get through this slow beginning as fast as possible. We currently sit at around 15k respect. we have +4 to travel items and 10 chains unlocked. 15 max members currently sitting at 9 active. trying to recruit but large factions are hard to compete with.
So yeah pulling the noob card looking for some advice. Im fairly familiar with Torn and have read dozens of guides.
Ask some advise from the 'humble' big faction leader out there and request if some other players could come to help you chain.
There are a lot of sheet head and factions loaded with them.
There are also humble players that will agree to help your chain pausing their training. Just provide meds and drugs.
As long as your faction is united, it is what matters most.
I've started torn though on of 'those' faction and only when I left it, did I learn how to play the game, because it was never about sharing the important knowledge and just vent about their stats.
I am no great players with super buff stats and quite busy in life. My current faction is the perfect place for me right now.
Bottom line, don't just overkill the chain until it becomes some sort of a pain in the @ss
I am very happy that you have started a faction of close friends. All of the best factions in the game start from such a strong core as you have.
Rules for Long term growth.
1. Lots of time training in the gym. the stronger you all get, the easier it is to recruit.
2. When you chain, Chain together. set a goal, set a start time, and hit it. For example, We will do a 500 chain at 5:00 TCT. Everyone can stack, and if you have 10 people who stack to 1000E, thats already 400 hits. DO it as a team.
3. Like Freaker said, if you want to stretch the goal, ask in the Faction Forum for help. people will come help chain, particularly for a new faction that just wants to get better.
4. be respectful, you are weak little kittens. if you get mad at a faction for hitting you a couple times, this is a warring game, they might just sit on you and drop a couple big bonuses on you and poof, you lost 5K respect.
5. be patient. Its a long term game. every strong faction started where you are. Just make sure you ensure that you have a good balance of Fun and Chaining, and you dont force people to chain so much that it becomes a chore.
6. get on the territories in S7, grab a few open territories. its easy daily respect.
We are definately aware of how focusing on chains too much can greatly impact the fun of the game. We are what i would consider casual players. We play often but its not a religion. we hope to unlock 25 chains this week. At 10 we can easily do a chain on our own. and a couple members do 1 every day or two on their own. earning us some decent respect.
adding new players is the biggest struggle we have. but i never considered asking another faction to share member or hiring hitters to help out.
im sure if we arranged we could afford to pay some xanax to whoever we could find. Im sure once we achieve 25 chain it will speed things up
Would it be wise to get rid of the excursion branch to go for chain increase. Or is territory a good idea?
I would recommend just buying a decent respect faction, ~200k - 400k respect won't cost a ton and lets you unlock the core upgrades that are ridiculously difficult to get at the beginning (territories, chaining, steadfast/toleration). If you are truly dedicated to sticking with the 15k respect, definitely unlock higher chains or more territories first (depending on how often you guys chain, territories also have okay passive respect per day).
I would say focus on getting at least 50 chains unlocked for now. If you've currently got a solid group of friends then for the moment at least upgrades and enticing new members shouldn't be your focus nearly as much as getting up enough respect that you can do some regular chains for decent respect. After that you can start focusing on upgrades and making it easier to entice people to come join and chain, as well as working towards getting a couple territories.
Also as many people here have already said it's not hard to find people willing to guest chain for a new faction for free, and even easier if you're willing to offer to cover the Xanax for it. I for one would be happy to hop over at some point in the coming weeks and do a couple 25 or 50 chains, either solo or with some of your current members. If you're able to refund me the Xanax that would be excellent (and I could probably do so more than once), but honestly even if not I'd be happy to help out once or twice.
You have 12k respect. In all honesty, trying to get anywhere alone will be a mountain and will stunt you and your friend's personal growth.
I mean you all could join plenty of existing factions and use their respect bonuses to grow larger before trying to do this faction thing together. Hell, if one of you does well enough you can easily just buy a faction with considerably more respect than you would earn on your own just trying this out.
Starting a new faction is definitely exciting and best when you have a fair bit of knowledge to tackle the challenge. Setting up clear solid goals, dates, and times that you all can work together and agree on will help with teamwork and satisfaction.
Yes, get rid of a branch temporarily to invest into 50 chains. The respect bonuses will be well worth it. Investing in Territory you don't have to worry about as much, but buying the first one for 1,295 respect is cheap enough. Territories and OCs are long term investments of saving precious energy.
It's actually fun running 250 chains. But depending on player contribution 500+ is where it starts getting tedious. Bear in mind putting in the chains for your upgrades will be a lot of work! Also hiring guest chainers can run up a huge bill so start to thinking about how to make money too ;)
I'm one of the members of this fine faction and figured I would put forth this question. Might getting territories to go into a mock war with another weak faction also provide a decent respect increase?
Aside from that, if your faction is currently pretty much made up of an existing group of friends, it can be hard for new people to feel welcome if there are too many inside jokes etc going, if that makes sense. So, you'd have to work hard to make sure new people don't feel like outsiders.
we are very welcoming and helpfull to all new players. In fact we even have a roleplay game that takes place in our faction forum. And we encourage new players to join and take part in it. Its a DND type adventure. We like to educate as well as learn from eachother. So hey any newer players out there feel free to send an application!
You seem to have a loyal group and it's always more fun to play with your friends and other new players. I think the best strategy for you would be to grow individually and as a group, and get the respect you need for perks by buying a new faction. Beware of factions with a lot of unnecessary core upgrades as those can't be unset, what you need is maybe around 200k free respect for some drug addiction reduction and steadfast for instance, that would save you a lot of blood, sweat and tears.
If growth is what you’re after, 15k respect isn’t going to get it. Unless you just have like 50+ players willing to work crazy hard building up respect all the while having crappy upgrades and perks.
having that low respect extremely hurts personal growth in the game, it’s a huge sacrafice to play long term in game with little to no perks. It’s just not enticing to any, except maybe a small group of core players/ friends that just want to start from scratch no matter what. That’s fine and can be fun to go that route, but I personally don’t have the advising to go that route. Each their own though.
Hey, the most important thing is building a strong player base for your faction, focus all your respect into upgrading capacity, chains and territory to maximise potential respect income.
Chaining can be a ball ache but you can give players some incentive. We have two official chains per week which I lead, we always hit our max chain capacity, as we get bigger I will introduce another chain during a different time of the day so other members from different places get a chace to take part. I offer rewards for the top respect gains (tornstats have a competition section which is handy).
Just rememeber, More active members = more respect gains Higher chains achieved = more respect gains more territory owned = more passive respect gained
Overall you want to try and make sure all your players are strong, continually working on themselves, building their battlestats and nerve bars and try and get atleast two nights per week where you can all come together and achieve some nice chains!
