I think the consensus was that Chedburn was lying, in order to build hype. At least, that's what they seem to think in the main Maol thread.

Bogie (Pre-Community Manager Days) once told us all that there is a secret honor bar for getting to the VIP forums. As an honor bar whore I had to lean in hard and write a bunch of guides to be one of the first 20ish people to unlock it.
Best decision I ever made, those who know the secret VIP forum handshake would back me up, but what's said in VIP, stays in VIP!
If there is only one person who can summon and the rest of us wasted 2 years of Halloween grinding, that still won't be the worst Ched has screwed me in this game lol

Where do you get that info? I seem to recall seeing something a few years ago for xmas, but cant for the life of me find anything

Well yeah, but then that would mean all of the maol armor, and weapons, and data for loot drops would have to be an elaborate hoax.... And the data wasn't made public, it was found via digging around, I believe.
Not if it only takes one person to summon him, and then everyone can attack. Would be kinda silly to tell people it's a waste of treats, if it's a closed boss, only accessible to the people who summoned him.
Imagine if it's a closed boss though, only summonable once in a player's own game, and gives them the choice to select from any of the available maol minion armor. Proxima and/or Heasley would probably become OP.

From my calculations, based on an average of 4 attacks per hour, 9-10 treats per hour from Inflation, and 1 from Mortal Coil, you should get there in around 55 hours :)
Not that I expect it will matter much at the rate you're gaining treats, but does this account for the possibility that he'll only be attackable during Trick r Treat, like Scrooge during December and the Bunny during April? It would suck beyond telling if you finally pull off the summon only to not have time to attack Maol and the minions.
Yeah that would suck. There's no way to account for it, simply have to get there as fast as possible and pray. Hopefully ready by late Thursday.

Based off everything that's been revealed so far, do you believe it is possible for newer players to be able to obtain possible benefits from joining in on the attack? I know new players are able to join regular npc fights due to temp weapons however it does seem that this may not be the case in this situation due to some of the buff that Cthulhu has.
Or a nightmare scenario of once he's awakened, his minions also awaken and need to be put down before he's attackable, or they heal him or buff him if they're not hosped. That would add several hours for travel time to the amount needed.
All depends how much Ched hates us.
The buffs to Mao'l are so great that he isn't naturally defeatable by even HoF stat players, only way to penetrate his armor is to get some special Halloween weapons, which bring his stats down by 99% (to almost 0), so I guess new players would be able to join in too.
