For a faction as traditionally bad at chaining as we are, there was a time when I thought a 100K chain was a pipe dream. After all, the one 25K we ever did was an accident after dropping a 10K 44% of the way though, waiting out the cooldown, and starting over. And even that one took us more than a week.

But then last Halloween, we smashed out a 50K chain that only came close to dropping once, and four Stompers made hits to save it. It was then that hope for a 100K began to flicker.

Smiffy spent most of the year stocking up on revitalize weapons, ending up with 21 at 12-14% to share around. Not sure yet how many free attacks those generated, but it’s been a helluva lot of fun passing those around the faction and bragging about our proc rates. Thanks also to Andrew_616 at TNL for loaning us a 17% for our final stretch.

We’d been saving up donated armory balances from former members, and after reaching out to all of them a couple more times to confirm, we pooled it all into a prize fund for the chain. We threw in faction funds to round up to an even $6B, with $2B activated when we hit 50K, and the other $4B activated when we dropped the 100K bonus.

Gonna take a couple days to get those prizes sorted, but it should be easier now that the API is under a little less stress.

Last year, our chain watchers were the heroes, and this year, we were taking no chances. I know chain watching is boring and stressful all at once, and it is something that my real life circumstances almost never allow me to do anymore, so I appreciate the job they do immensely. We set up a schedule and an escalating pay scale that topped out at up to $4M/hour for our watchers. Were they not needed much of the time? Sure, but so is the fire department, and boy do you want them on standby when do need them!

We had five members make over 2K hits and another who came darn close. Their performance was quite impressive! I am on the can book using revits and couldn’t even hit 1,900. I made it through with no ODs, so I don’t even have that as an excuse. They were just amazing. We had 37 members make 1K hits or more, and one more just 3 shy of that.

It’s been a slog since the Trick or Treat event ended, but congrats and many thanks to the Stompers and guests who stuck it out to the end. We can cross this one off our faction and personal bucket lists now.

Well done, Stompers! So proud of you all! No go get some sleep!
