I'm certain this has come up before, but how do people feel about those lurkers who watch for lower level players who are selling donator packs, points, expensive items or travel, and mug them right after? The points and items I get that there are methods to alleviate getting mugged but getting mugged as soon as getting off a flight is rough. Much more annoying is 'donating' real $ for a pack and paying a 10% vig on each one since you almost inevitably get mugged right after selling it. Seems this discourages money supporting the system. Maybe even a 5 minute pause after selling a pack would help. I get mugging is part of the game, and I'm not looking for cheese with my whine, but it seems pretty lame to cherry pick as a player. All one needs to do is watch pack listings in the market/bazaar and mug anyone weaker as soon as the pack disappears...and voila $2million or so. I know Torn City isn't for the meek, but I think it would be helpful to address this issue. (In any even I'm guessing I'll get a few mugs for this post, but that's the price one pays)
Not trying to be a kiss@ss, but props to the Torn team for having things run relatively smoothly during today's round of Elimination. We went from 20 minutes of errors to just a few moments of lag. Easy to kick them when they are down, but kudos on a good job today. (then again Pirates being out may have lessened the load, but either way good to have things work)
For a relatively noob does it make sense to live up in style or stay humble? (In other words are the benefits of moving to the best possible property outweigh the risks?)
Mission requirement: Achieve 5 critical hits (0 / 5) Please correct me if I'm wrong, but it means even with mods I'm looking at roughly 100 hits given a 10% critical hit rate(?). So it will take 10 or so attacks to complete the mission and in return I get a pittance. C'mon Duke you already have a rep of being El Cheapo (not to be confused with El Chappo), but this missions payoff to effort ratio is for da boyds.
The house advantage in blackjack in a 'normal' casino is around 1-3% depending on skill level etc. After thousands of hands I've determined the house advantage is many times higher than typical. Anyone note a difference?
Ah, that indeed makes sense, thx. Unfortunately I was always the kid that showed up much later after all the aggro rambunctious kids already ravaged the fields.
Going from the anecdotal evidence via different threads it looks like eggs were much easier to find early in the competition and are spawning (getting laid?) much less frequently now.

Happy Thanksgiving to those of you stateside or otherwise celebrating today. So in honor of the holiday what in Torn are you thankful for?
For me it might be... Thanksgiving means that the dogtag competition may end soon so I can leave the hospital and enjoy the fresh air for awhile. My addiction wearing off. Having enough salt to last a lifetime. Joining something that has a really interesting and enjoyable sense of community.
For me (as an admitted noob), Duke has made the Torn experience more interesting, not to mention the poor guy needs ointment for a medical condition, and still misses his ex so much he named his bat after her. ....unlike some party I will not name who bountied me, and others, and inferred they will continue to until Torn is no longer worth being part of and I quit. It's all still good fun though, a new challenge every day.
Aww lil-ole-me got 10 bounties put on for my comment, while not directed at anyone my question must have touched a nerve. On the plus side I needed a bit of an extended hospital stay pre-thanksgiving so now I can lose some weight via my IV drip and eat more turkey and stuffing when I get out.
Quick question, did the very highest level players get there due to exploits? [of the stock market etc.]
No disrespect, but if so it seems both they and Duke use/used the system in ways that the average schmuck, (myself being a schmuck- ), cannot....since they are in another league entirely by that virtue, anything goes.
Mission is called "Batshit Crazy" "Difficulty: "Inflict a total of 1,436 damage using Duke's bat (1,773 / 1,436)" Are all missions in the same order for everyone?
So this guy Duke he sendz me on dese missions and I gets to use some cool toys of his (cept for the haf used ointment, fuggedaboutit). Problem is they disappear-like when the mission is over. Even tried to put sum in my displayin case and *poof* dey gone when mission expired. So now he givz me his bat Penelope, strange name, but whadayuz expect its Duke. So I wants to see if I hits someone wid it does it show normal hit by "bat" or hit by "Penelope". I need a volunteer to test out what it does. I'll take a swingz till I hit and then walk away wid my hands in my pocket. Any takers to see what happens? (No highlevel wise guyz cause you'll 1 hit murderlize me before I take a swing)
