Now that Christmas is closing in, meaning Christmas town is closing in as well so i decided to make this a bit earlier (6 days earlier i think, since i have time now and i might be busy later)
So, many of torn citizens don't know how the combination chest even works and that's why i am here, to explain how it works :), for those of you who don't know what it looks like here it is:
Then it will open the chest, Now after you open the chest you will have to guess the number which is between 1-9, Now there are 3 colors in the Combination Chest: Green, Orange and Red
Now what do these colors mean?
Green color means that you have the right number in the right place which means you don't change that number or its place.
Orange means that you got the right number but in the wrong place, For example: if you put the number in the middle column and it lights up orange it means you have the right number now you only need to change its place so you try putting it either in the right column or in the left column.
Red means that you got the number wrong.
So how should you go for it then?
What i did (Which i ended up opening almost every single combination chest i got) was that i started with 1-2-3 if all wrong i went 4-5-6
Etc.
Till some color lights up either green or orange.
Now remember, if you get green keep the number and its position, if you get orange then keep the number but change its position and if you get red then change the number.

Edit: I've been asked by many to include how many tries you get to open the Combination chest, and the answer is 4. Another important edit: this year (2021) there has been a change, the green number is no longer fixed in position so that makes opening the chest easier, just don't forget where the green number appeared! One more edit this year (2022): There is no age or level limit to be able to play Christmas Town, any age any level can play. Well.... there is no easy way to say this but it is about time that i quit this game.
I've had many discussions with a few friends, those who are close and those who aren't, while they tried to keep me around, it came to no avail. I've started playing this game because of 2 friends, neither of them are around anymore, yet i stayed around because i made more friends, which was more of a reason to stay around and i did, for 8 years i've stayed in this game for friends. I've lost my interest in Torn after 2 years of playing, and have completely stopped trying to learn new things since ranked war was a thing and ranked weapons etc. Honeslty a brand new player of torn that has only started playing a few months ago might have more knowledge in this game than i do currently.
Why am i quitting?:
(Please consider that what i am about to mention is my experience and mine alone and others might completely disagree with me)
I've grown tired of this game and bored of it.
I absolutely HATE the newer system of wars, my god i am bored to death because of it and how repetitive it is, factions are waring 24/7 and most of the wars are termed just to bring in more money, almost no real wars are happening, at least before it was about hopping on walls, taking terretories, now? just get caches to get money.
Global chat? what a disaster, i've been playing this game for nearly 10 years and it's never worked properly once, except for a few months ..... that's it, Constantly having to refresh a page for 10 years is frustrating as hell just so you don't miss a chat.
Time wastage: i just find myself wasting my time on something that i no longer like, no longer enjoy and can no longer tolerate, and honestly? i just notice myself opening torn immediately right after closing the app, just out of habit, no reason at all.
This might be the worst one of all (even though i am not guilty of this myself but i have to mention it because i know a LOT who do this): staying up late at night to take a xanax or to war or for any reason at all, and what's even worse? setting an alarm to wake you up at like 2 or 3 am so you'd take a xanax ......
While i find the new crimes more appealing, i don't like the items you have to acquire and constantly buy in order to keep doing the crimes.
People are mean and nasty to each other here, while this is the case online in general, it doesn't mean this game doesn't suffer from this problem too, can't trust people too often here, the amount of times nudes here got leaked here is diabolical.......
Pros?:
Meeting new people is the highlight of this game, some truly are amazing and i made so many friends that i am so thankful to have met and will never forget about them.
I see the game improving even if it's at a snail's pace, the layout, the crimes, the OCs, all the customizations and backdrops etc.
a temporary escape from reality (if you can manage to not get addicted to the game)
My Advice:
Just treat this game as a game, please do not take this game as a dating website (while i am aware some relationships online work, we all know most don't).
Don't trust too blindly and too quickly, some people here will change your perspective on life entirely and how you view people.
Please try to be kind, don't let others change who you are because they are bad apples, remain good and stay away from them.
And lastly:
I reamin thankful to the experience this game has provided me with, it definitely taught me a lot about people and how they behave.
The only true places where i felt like home were: Mentos and Cola (even though it didn't last long then they merged creating Monarchs) and the other place was Chain reaction.
My NW has already started going out to friends a while ago, and now i will be giving the rest out so i ensure i never come back to the game.
I will be quitting for now, logging in every few days ish, self fedding in around 6 months

Hi, I have been given a mission 'A Problem on the Tracks' I'm unable to complete because I'm unable to get any damage on my target " https://www.torn.com/profiles.php?XID=1437859 ". I have tried using a DBK, whilst on vicodin, no drug addiction, and with 3 other people in the attack but still managed to hit him for 0 damage, you'll be able to see in the attack log. I've already wasted 125 energy, plus energy lost from taking vicodin instead of xanax as I would normally have done, others have wasted theirs trying to help me too. Can you please take a look at unfair matchmaking, I don't think any missions are intended to be impossible.
Well ..... i did say I'm going to self fed in 6 months and that I'd still log in every few days.
Some people seem to be bothered by my presence haha, don't worry you won't be seeing much of me as soon as I'm done replying to all the kind people!
Speaking of which! I'd like to thank everyone who've read and replied to my post here! Friends and total strangers!
100+ messages on torn and 50+ on discord, I've made some amazing friends here, and I'm so thankful to have left a positive impact on some of you!
As for the people asking for free stuff, i really am sorry that i can no longer provide you guys with any money or items at all, I've exhausted my NW and i really really wish i had enough money to every kind person in this game <3.
