We do really put in a lot of effort with the players, free x and meds for chaining, and DPs for the active and regular chainers that has been with us for a a min of 3 months. For a small faction I think we do really put in the time and effort. The problem is we either get a player with zero commitment or someone with semi commitment that we either get "right" or they leave... If they stay the issue is they leave eventually for larger factions as soon as they basically outgrow our faction. I get it also of we make friends there is a good chance they'll stay but not always.

I have been working on a structure for this proposed United Factions... And I should post it here in a few days or so, hopefully it is something that can facilitate the independence of individual factions but gives us the ability to gain from banding together.

One of the points I also think is underestimated is the potential for economic benefits between factions of all products and services, this will keep the players safer from buy muggers, lotto muggers and so on especially if we keep trading and lotto competitions on the inside.

Thanks for the feedback, I will go and have a look and then see how their structure works. Like you said could be a discord group more than an active torn group.

Thanks for the feedback, I can't believe I never thought about buying a better faction, it might take some time to find the perfect one and get a deal that works for us. I am sure that will give us the boost we need, and help us keep members that are growing quicker than our current faction. I really think there are a bunch of good factions we could join but there is no guarantee that we would fit into the new culture... and to keep a core group of players/friends with the same mindset together is important.

So let me start this post by stating this is just an idea, nothing has in any way gone further than this post... So there can still be a bunch of improvements made here.

For the past 200 plus days I have been immersing myself in Torn and learning something new almost every day, I have also seen the ups and the downs, the good and the bad of Torn in this time. The one particular point I want to discuss here today is that of how smaller factions with dedicated players can make their mark on Torn and the map.

I have been part of a smaller faction with seriously ambitious people, because let's be honest, factions are more people driven when they are smaller than by "a brand" or "faction ideals".

1) This brings me to my first point of concern for smaller factions. How do they retain good players without having the faction perks?

Having a core group of people, possibly friends that can stick together, that are bound by a loyalty to each other more than they are to the faction or outside influences such as perks...

2) The second point of concern is their fallibility and that of new/newer members and the possible consequences for such errors. Our faction was almost destroyed and that all thanks to 1 minor incident that almost spun completely out of control.

The cost was the loss of a few core daily active players, something that hits harder than any request or other forced payment would have done. The faction lost some of its lifeblood, core personalities and fervor. The cultural dynamic within the faction changed and we lost our balance, this in turn exposed minor rifts that eventually turned to a certain level of discontent with leadership and resulted in even more members leaving.

3) Making money, we have been funded mostly by our leader, some of the core members carry themselves, but for most part the leader is the funding. If something should happen to such a leader, then the faction would be in real trouble.. So what would a way be to mitigate this? Faction wide tax? Plush/flower run? This might also turn members away as this is not the norm at most factions..

4) Territory is another point for discussion, it feels like the smaller factions are deprived of experiencing this and delving deeper in the game, and players that want to war/wall/defend/gain/raid will have to leave as the smaller factions can't afford to get involved in these fasets of the game. For survival reasons as well as economic ones.

5) Alliances with larger factions. It is very difficult to gain serious alliances with larger factions as they either want you to a) join their "brand" effectively ending your independence, b) not interested as you are too small to add directly to their goals, c) becoming a training faction and meat grinder only to send the best recruits and leaders away to serve in other legions d) accept their personal in leadership roles also effectively ending self governance and adding a new culture not always in line with the faction leadership, playing style and current values, e) paying some form of tribute almost crippling or handicapping the faction and players.

Now after all that (and there are many more issues but lets keep it to that for now) what am I proposing here? what could be a possible strategic solution that could be conducive to problem solving and a mutually beneficial drive to ensure independent self governance.

The Smaller United Factions:

A union of smaller factions:

a) each keeping to their own rule and internal agreements. Their own cultural identity.
b) banding together for a wide range of advantages, such as mutually beneficial trade agreements, defensive and other military pacts.
c) free movement of members without reprisals as long as there was no canvassing or fishing.
d) larger problem solving and think tanks.
e) leadership communication ensuring planning on a larger strategic level.
f) a mutual discord to be used as stand alone or in conjunction with their own Discord. This will make it easier to solve issues, facilitate discussions and coordinate a large number of tasks and people.
g) other... (just added to indicate this list has many possible additions)

Would love to know what other players think, would something like this ever hold any water? Is it possible? or only if driven by strong characters especially in the beginning?

Good trader, safe and easy to use

I definitely do something very similar, yeah the times can be stretched from time to time but mostly I get 3 long flights in also, or min 2, either way it's enough to cover a jump, especially if you only jump with 3X a day and sweets or other short term boosters. Definitely been working for me for a while now.

What's this shtttt about the jibs.... I'm the only bright star in an otherwise screwed up world... I have been using this trader a number of times now, she is quick, safe, and reliable. This is a trader, no bs, doesn't have any other "perks" just safe trading when you need it... End of story
