I actually think the design and the idea is really good and finds the right balance and doesn’t just throw money at them.

My only downside and it doesn’t affect me as I joined the comp, but I think not announcing it before the comp, not even a hint isn’t how reward updates should be released. 

I actually think announcing it prior would have made elims better and increased participation further

But overall a good update for the future for sure 

Talking about IQ levels but then says bet before teams are placed. We have gambling like that it’s call roulette

Do you guys in IB just think of ways to suggest that would allow you to game the system.

Everyone would just funnel money into friends and faction mates on one selected team, then just roll over and let that team win. If you think top factions manipulate it now wait and see what they’d do if they can bet on a certain team winning.

Also 12 teams and odds of 15/1…. Some solid maths

I like this idea but I also worry it stops factions helping members, when people are doing elims, or missions etc I sometimes put my armour in the faction to help them. 

For me internal loans in the faction is different than pooling together 20 factions worth of armour

With inactives and traders holding a large portion I’d be surprised if there are even 287 EOD sets in circulation

Already made this point, it really does show that devs and senior staff don’t play this game.

Elims and Halloween are both a massive E sink and money sink (at first for Halloween) and being so close together will put some people off maxing both 

At least you know you’ll get a great elimination post when you go out first

Exactly this, also their strength is also their weakness. For nearly every SMTH you can predict their merc time and also their push time. If you can’t counter that with your own numbers then they’re better than you and deserved the win.

Some of the hardest things in ranked wars, is countering a 40 man push with no notice. SMTH take that away from you, you should thank them 

I actually think Ched could have saved himself some earache here by pushing elims into a slot around April. 

Would have given him another 5-6 months of dev time, but most importantly people wouldn’t have another PvP 1 month later.

The problem is torn has 2 PvP events and they both fall within a month of each other the calendar makes zero sense and it allows Halloween to take all the attention. Why bother going balls to the wall in elims when I can do it for Halloween next month. But if it was in April people would be more “hungry” for some PvP action and would be more likely to join for the “fun”

But hey, Ched knows best and I’m sure he has some elaborate 12D chess plan as to why he crams his 2 biggest E eating PvP events into the same 30 day window

Maybe one day they’ll make the life losses happen at a random point each 15min window and we’ll move past the same :25,:30,:45 and :00 pushes each year. The event would be much more fun if you had to actually get to hold onto tickets and not just try to have 1 more than the other worst team at the push point

I can’t get my head around yourself, beer etc arguing against this. The Dev has already said there is a cap on how much performance can effect a match up.

You're both arguing their shouldn’t be, I’m arguing it currently appears to be set too high and should be reviewed/adjusted week on week when outlier matchups happen to find that balance 

Hell he even says in his first post that these match ups could happen (admittedly he says 25x averages not 10x) but he doesn’t envisage it happening and if it does he could tweak it….. I’m literally asking him to do what he said he could do 

For fun not in competitions this is “ranked” war not take pity on your opponent war 

In other ELO based systems the decided factor is your ability (performance) 

Torn isn’t that simple as stats play into it not just how good you war. You wouldn’t put me against Magnus in chess but he gets a king and pawn and I get 10 queens.

ELO is an indication of skill/ability. You’re just completely disregarding stats

Then we just disagree and I imagine a lot of the community do as well. 

Your first point that your win rate should trend towards 50% regardless makes zero sense. If you’re rubbish at the game don’t worry we’ll keep dragging you down until you genuinely can’t lost. If you’re very good at the game don’t worry we’ll push you into a wall and force you to lose. 

Your second point you’re catering to the top X factions by worrying who they match. What percentage of enlisted factions each week would either repeat opponents or not match? I suspect a handful but they’re the largest/strongest so you worry about them at the risk of every other faction who enlists 

No the answer is the current system but you tweak it for a few months to get the right balance between stats and performance effecting the match up

Basically lower how much effect performance can have little by little until ratz don’t match MHQ but they do match MM. 

This point keeps coming up and it seems so short sighted. When do you stop getting harder opponents?

In your logic does the system just keep pushing you until you match a faction there 3 of their members could shut down your 50 man push? 

There has to be a ceiling on how high performance will push you and it’s clearly currently too high. I’ve already mentioned this before but eventually you have to be seen as “best in class” where you sit top of the tree for your stat bracket.

I’ve used the logic already to make it easier to understand, combat sports irl have weight divisions (stat score) you then fight other people in your weight divisions and win (performance score). If mayweather keeps winning you don’t stick him in the ring with Joshua. Weight (stats) still have to be considered
