How do you do a happy jump to boost gym gains, and is it worth the cost?

What a happy jump is

You raise your happiness as high as it will go, then train as much energy as you can while it stays high. More happiness means more gym gain per train^[1]. Risks and cooldowns

• Ecstasy overdose: the wiki says Ecstasy has a relatively high overdose chance but gives no percentage. An overdose removes all your energy and happiness, which ruins the jump^[13][14]. The 5-8% figure is the 2018 guide's own estimate of the risk for the jump^[1].
• Cutting the risk: the faction 'Overdosing' upgrade cuts your overdose chance by 3% per upgrade, up to 30%, and a 7* Nightclub's 'Toleration' special cuts it by 50%. Your addiction level and how often you take drugs have no effect on the chance^[13].
• Ecstasy cooldown: 200-230 minutes of drug cooldown and 20 addiction points^[14].
• Xanax: each dose gives -35% to all battle stats and adds 360-480 minutes of cooldown and 35 addiction points. A Xanax overdose removes all energy, nerve and happiness and puts you in hospital for 5000 minutes^[8].
• Booster cooldown: each eDVD adds 6 hours of booster cooldown, so five of them stack five lots of that^[9]. That cooldown can't then go on energy boosters. A 2020 guide notes that stacking happiness with job points instead leaves the booster cooldown free for cans and FHCs^[15].

Is it worth it?
