It is with a heavy heart that I will be permanently retiring from Torn after being a semi-active member over the last 3 years so I expect some obligatory "Can I has your stuff?" messages.
My mental health has been up and down quite a bit over the last three years and whilst as of late it's been better than previous years, I'm still struggling and do regularly see a psychiatrist for this.
This is not the only reason I'll be retiring from Torn.
For those that care, I am currently learning the C++ scripting language as part of a Bachelor of Software Engineering majoring in Game Design next year. The institute I will be studying with has connections with game companies across the globe as well as Sony Entertainment aka PlayStation and is a verified institute with Unity, a game development software.
I plan to start up my own company upon graduation in 3 years called Plasmatic Games, so do look out for it, as it will be focused on simulation game production, specifically revolving around life simulation.
Torn has, for the most part, been a game I've thoroughly enjoyed. It will be missed but sadly for the sake of my mental health and for the sake of my future to not get distracted by gaming (as I'm a bit of a nerd), I need to depart from gaming in general and focus on physical and mental health positive activities.
So, due to having a wealth of over 300m in Torn, I will be dishing this out before I retire and close my account.
I will randomly select posters so no need to make a fancy post or anything.
I wish you all the best in your future and your life.
God bless.
TL:DR: I'm retiring from Torn permanently due to mental health issues as well as focusing on a game development career pathway.
I thought I'd create this thread adding my two cents, for what it's worth, on Torn through the eyes of a neurodivergent male with multiple diagnosed mental illnesses. I do hope this thread piques your interest, and if not, well, there's always the other self-proclaimed Autistic we all know and love, Autistic_Dragon's posts.
My Torn Journey
Torn has been a part of my life since 2019. I've had my up's with Torn, and my down's with Torn. Thankfully within the nearly last two years, it has all been up's. I have found friends, had laughs, and genuinely enjoyed my time on this web game. As some may or may not know, Autism brings with it a struggle to fit in socially, and for me personally, when I met people in real life, I'm a genuinely nervous wreck. Torn has allowed me to not 'mask' or 'camoflauge' my Autistic traits. It has allowed me to be me.
I have always had a preference for text-based gaming because as a neurodiverse person with mental illnesses, I have found people judge you a lot less via text than they do in-person. My morbid obesity contributes to this anxiety of meeting people in the real world. When you can love and cherish others for their words alone, you know you won't be judged on your physical appearance when real life meets web life.
I have seen garbage forum posts, wholesome forum posts, and genuinely laughable forum posts. Many may not see it the way I do but I feel no matter the forum post, it brings us all together collectively, whether for positive or negative reactions. Torn to me feels a lot like a web family than it does like a generalized computer-based MMO. Maybe this is one of the reasons it has lasted as long as it has?
This thread may get hate or it may get love, but what matters most is the ability to express myself to a community that has accepted me for me. This is what I want out of a game, and I think I speak for all neurodivergents and mentally unwell people when I say this as well.
Thank you for reading and I hope you all have a wonderful weekend wherever in the world you currently are. Keep warm, keep safe, and keep well! 🌎🌍🌏
I'm a noob, as you can tell. Well, technically I'm a restart having played Torn on and off for 3 years.
I have Autism, formally diagnosed, I also have PTSD, OCD, Generalized Anxiety Disorder, and ASPD.
I find Torn very enjoyable and it's something I look forward to playing. It eases my anxiety and allows me to turn off my brain and engage with a community that for the most part is very welcoming and kind. I struggle with social interactions in real life and Torn has, over the course of 3 years, been a major part of my life. I admit, I haven't been a good citizen on Torn and I have no excuse for that, I have struggled severely with mental illness over the last 3 years from multiple suicidal attempts to psychiatric hospital admission. I took OD to the next level sadly.
I've had long breaks from Torn at times solely due to unable to handle trolls as much as I wish I could. It feeds depression and sadly can result in self-harming behaviour such as banging my head against a wall, etc.
Torn has, for the most part, been a game I've stuck with. The longest online game I've stuck with and I've played 100's of MMO's at the young age of 22.
I thank you all for reading this post and I do apologize if I've upset anyone with this post. I just wanted to speak my mind about how Torn and the players have made me feel, especially this year as I've become more mature and become less of a nuisance as I once was.
My name's Azonifyer. I haven't been active with Torn much but wanting to get back into it.
I'm formally diagnosed with Autism as well as multiple mental illnesses.
I'm just wondering if there are other players like myself with Autism, neurodiversity, or mental illness/es that play Torn that I could connect with?
I'm a very socially shy person nowadays with high anxiety levels constantly battling chronic depression but I'd like to make some friends on Torn and enjoy playing the game alongside them rather than going alone at it.
Anyone can send me a message even if you're not in the above categories. I'd love any friends.
Inspired by J3T's genorosity towards newbie players, and also because I genuinely want to help retain the ever-growing player base of Torn, I will be giving out the following:
50x Special Newbie Packs (Fulled with all the basic essentials you need to live survive in Torn City)
This isn't an exhaustive list by any means, and may be updated from time to time to include other properties, longer rents for $1, and specially-named parcels.
I am hardly on Torn but I still come on to use energy, do crimes, use job points, occasionally spin the wheel (nearly always at a loss ), buy 100 items from Bit's and Bob's, and ensure I'm always doing some type of education, every 2-3 weeks, sometimes more regular.
If this proves to be in high demand by newbies, I will look at coming back on more often to increase my in-game finances to allow for further funding for newbies. I am currently about to start studies so I will have a little less time on my hands than I currently do, however.
This goes without saying but please, unless your a newbie, don't request help. I wish I could say everyone can have my help but sadly resources are limited and newbies take priority.
I currently have 12 penthouses to rent out and 15 villas to rent out. Each is $1 per 31 days, with an unlimited amount of renewals. Newbies will get first choice. If you are under 100 days old, you will take priority, or if you are under level 15.

I'm selling a PI with a large vault and an airstrip. Currently taking offers. Please no low offers, the estate agent itself offers just over 504m for it. Please also note that I will do thorough research on a prospective buyer to avoid any risk of buymugging.
I'm sorry to say, but 1m is nearly how much you'll pay per day. You won't find any private island to rent for 1m for 5 days, let alone 30 days. You're looking at around 20m give or take for a 30 day rental.
It would be really cool if the latter was correct. A Maori flag represents Aotearoa New Zealand's indigenous people. A great thing to implement on Torn which has a variety of cultures and places across the world already implemented.
A few times now, when using all my energy at once in the gym, whether it be 50 energy or 100 energy, usually expending x10 no matter how much energy I have, I seem to be left with 5 energy in the stat which when I try to use, it states all my energy has been used up.
I have tried refreshing and navigating to other pages multiple times and I've also tried cleaning my browser cache and cookies to no avail.
It does seem to go away but I'm not sure how it does and how long it takes.
Picture below shows 10 energy but I can only use 5 of it.
Just going to add here that Bogie does give many chances to individuals that should be banned, whether it be forum, chat, or permanent. There are rules in place and if we disobey them, especially multiple times, we should expect lengthy consequences.
You might be thinking, "Oh, he's a newb trying to gain brownie points with Bogie", but I will tell you right now, I had made multi's, caused many issues on the chat features on Torn, made forum posts that were utter garbage, had countless warnings, and yet after so many chances after nearly 2-3 years of non-stop issues, Bogie gave me one final chance, despite previously saying I would never be allowed back.
Since that final chance, I have retained this account and kept quiet, abiding by the rules of Torn as I matured into a mindful adult.
TLDR: Bogie does give chances. You just have to go through the consequences and a long time period all the while behaving.
You're awesome mate. I never intended for this post to get donors/donations, but your donation will go 100% towards items/properties for newbies, cheers mate.
I wanted to suggest a new flag to be added to Torn's honors list.
This particular flag represents the Māori peoples of Aotearoa New Zealand. Whilst Torn may not have a huge Māori player base, it includes them in being able to freely identify as a proud Māori.
Many Māori are not able to tolerate the crown, otherwise known as the British Empire, due to colonization. The New Zealand flag may feel a tad bit offensive to some, but not all, Māori.
