Nash's nerve bar guide revived in 2018, then tested and disputed into 2019

A guide brought back

Alexstrasza [1825532] opened "Nash's Guide to Nerve Bar (Revived)" on 12 Jan 2018. The opening post covered crime experience (CE) and which crimes to do at which natural nerve bar (NNB) level.^[1][2]

The archive holds 428 posts in the thread from 204 different players. It had 146,494 views at the last fetch. The thread is locked and sits in the Graveyard board. The documents do not say when or why it was moved.^[2]

The opening post shows 1702 likes and 38 dislikes.^[1]

Testing the numbers

maledict [1677916] thanked Alexstrasza for reviving the guide. They offered what they called constructive criticism and asked how many times Alexstrasza had dropped from 60 NNB and regained it doing the same crimes.^[3]

CrazedOne [1915023] wrote on 25 Mar 2018 that a plane hijack was worth about 150 arsons of CE. They said it took them 116 arson to get back to 60NNB after a soft fail. Participant claim^[4]

On 03 May 2018 Alexstrasza posted an Organized Crimes update. They estimated a cruise liner at about 30 arsons, a plane hijack at about 150 and a political assassination at about 500. They thanked CrazedOne for help. Participant claim^[5]

byrod [1132772] posted a table of their progress from 55 to 60 NNB on 15 Jun 2018. It showed total crimes going from 35214 to 40464. Participant claim^[6]

On 13 Feb 2019 Alexstrasza said they had stopped getting jailed at 60 nnb to regain it. They called their numbers close enough and said there would be no more updates unless things changed. Participant claim^[7]

Staff and challengers

CloudJumper [1636201], Torn staff (Admin), replied on 28 Jan 2018. They wrote that busting uses the level shown on the profile, not the true level. They suggested further tests and gave a low ball estimate of about 250x arsons per PA success.^[8]

On 04 Feb 2018 CloudJumper advised stealing jackets until 25 nnb and then skipping to stealth viruses. They wrote that thorough robberies were not worth the time.^[9]

mug [553318], listed as Torn officer/committee, wrote on 30 Jan 2018 that they had rated the guide positively and sent a thank you mail.^[10]

On 24 Jul 2019 PatBenatar [420347] wrote that the guide's research was flawed. They said PA fails do lose CE and called the 500 arsons figure very inaccurate. They also said that after an earlier correction they were mugged or attacked. Participant claim^[11]

Alexstrasza replied the same day and called PatBenatar a buffoon. They invited PatBenatar to argue it out by mail and said they collect evidence based research from controlled tests.^[12]

Admin tests and a verdict

On 17 Aug 2019 CloudJumper described tests run with ReyDuvall and a member loaned from ShadowRazers. They said a vanilla 60nnb member in a PA team set to fail lost no CE after two failures in a row, one with jailing and one without, and gained none either. Participant claim^[13]

On 25 Sep 2019 Rhino [982382] wrote that it was no longer a guide with any correct information and that it must go to the grave.^[14]

The thread's last post is dated 29 Sep 2019. Other threads had linked to the guide, including one on 12 Jan 2018 where Samueldhall [2090366] wrote that it was pretty good.^[2][15]
