How do organized crimes work in a Torn faction?
Since the OC 2.0 beta rollout began on 2024-12-18, a faction organized crime (OC) is a scenario in which factionmates fill roles. Each participant has a Checkpoint Success Rate of up to 99%, based on their Crime XP and hidden per-role modifiers[1]. Leadership sets how the money is split, and each participant then gets an equal share[2].
How a scenario plays out
OC 2.0 is no longer purely text-based. Players watch their factionmates move around a top-down map, interacting with NPCs and elements to secure the reward[1].
Each participant's Checkpoint Success Rate depends on their Crime XP and hidden modifiers assigned to each unique role[1]. Several checkpoint failures in a row are usually needed to put a scenario on a path toward failure. The announcement put a rate of 70% - 80% as optimal for a high chance of total success[1].
Some scenarios need tools. The wiki lists OC 2.0 scenarios among the uses of tools[3]. Perks from Crime 1.0 and Crime 2.0 do not stack[4].
Unlocking scenarios
Scenario tiers are unlocked through faction upgrades. Organized Crimes II unlocks the ability to spawn Simple Assignments. It costs 4,719 and requires successfully completing 5 organized crimes[5]. The wiki text available here shows only this first threshold.
Only the leader or co-leader can create positions and edit permissions for each position[6]. The sources here do not say which permission governs OCs in OC 2.0.
Payouts
- Of the percentage allocated to participants, each receives an equal share. Individual splits cannot be assigned[2]
- Item rewards can be randomly allocated as fairly as possible, or their market value can be paid to wallets or faction balances[7]
- The system pays the cash equivalent from faction funds. It does not sell the items for you[7]
- Payout preferences, such as the split percentage and distribution method, are saved for the faction and pre-filled for the next payout. A player can receive their cut to wallet even after leaving the faction[8]
Roles and history
In January 2025 Chedburn, replying to a suggestion to let members' roles be moved, said he could not imagine it happening because it goes against the whole aim of OCs 2.0[9].
History: under Crimes 1.0, the wiki described Crime Experience as a hidden stat affecting the general success rate of crimes or Organized Crimes[10]. OC 2.0 replaced the old planning model with role-based scenarios[1].
Not documented in the source documents available here: the exact CPR and success formula, default payout splits, the recruiting and slot-joining interface, and scenario expiry timing. Patch-list details on these points could not be cited.
