How do you add a new member to your faction in Torn?

Players apply to your faction, and someone with the right permissions accepts them in the Applications section of the faction Controls Panel.^[1][2] The sources do not describe sending a direct invite, and they do not name the exact permission needed.

Accepting applications

1. The player applies to the faction; a player can have up to 10 pending applications at once.^[2]
2. Someone with permission to handle applications is alerted by a separate notification system, not by news or event spam.^[2]
3. In the Applications section of the faction Controls Panel, they view, accept or decline each application.^[1]
4. Once an application is accepted, the player's other applications are removed, so the applications a leader sees are from players available to join.^[2]

Timing and limits

• Applications expire after 72 hours if not accepted or declined.^[2]
• A declined or withdrawn application blocks reapplying for 72 hours, unless the faction toggles 'Allow applications' off and on.^[2]
• Applicants can edit or withdraw applications via the faction profile.^[2]
• Applicants can choose to show or hide their battle or working stats on applications (patch #143, 26/05/20).^[3]

After joining

New members get a 'Recruit' position by default. The forced Recruit position lasts 72 hours after joining (patch #151, 21/07/20).^[4][3] After that the faction's default position applies, which leaders can rename. Only the leader or co-leader can create positions and edit their permissions.^[4]

A new faction is based in a shed with a maximum of 5 members, and capacity can be upgraded in the Upgrades Panel.^[5]
