Youngest faction to achieve a 25k chain!
We are very proud to announce that In Memory of the Fallen achieved a 25k chain on the 8th of May, 2020 over the course of 6 days, 13 hours, 9 minutes, hence becoming the youngest faction, respect-wise, that has achieved it! (1.15M respects at the start of the chain)

The inspiration
We had heard that the lowest respect faction to achieve the 25k chain was 1.4mil when they started their chain. Since our faction was at 1.1mil at the time, we decided that we wanted in on the action.
From our very first 10k chain, one month ago, we knew where the risks lay. Generally speaking, our chains have always been conducted with no major issues, and we knew that our members are always willing to walk the extra mile, but then again 25k is a different league entirely.
But with the title of “Youngest faction to achieve a 25K chain” in front of our nose, we still decided to have a go.

Difficulties
We knew that the sheer amount of hits would definitely be our biggest hurdle. The energy is easy enough to get if you have enough time, the bigger problem there is that over the whole time there can’t be even 5 minutes where nobody is paying attention. It requires enormous amounts of activity in a faction to chain for so long.
That said, we actually didn't have too many difficulties, but there were a few hiccups along the way, which involved an old enemy, Ched’s update schedule, and consequently the servers.
Around the 15k mark, half of our members suddenly got an error code when trying to attack. Luckily it seemed to only affect part of the servers, so members currently connected to working servers were able to keep it going.

Solutions

1. A chain watching schedule. Sounds basic, but it achieves a few important things.
   Firstly, leadership always knows who’s here, or who is supposed to be here, so missing watchers can quickly be identified and replaced.
   Secondly, it gives members a sense of duty. If they are on there, they are expected to watch vigilantly and not slack.
   And finally, it solves the age-old problem of everyone thinking someone else is currently watching, so they don’t have to react.
   
2. A geographically diverse faction. This one is pretty self-explanatory. Running a faction with only your compatriots might seem nice, but everyone has to sleep sometime, so having someone who’s eating lunch while you’re going to bed is really useful for such a long chain.
   
3. Constant motivation. The challenge of actually getting such a big chain done definitely inspired our usually already every engaged members to deliver top performances all across the board.
   
   

Stats and participation

82 members participated out of 89 (92% participation rate), with 70 people above 100 hits.
79.2% reached 150 (minimum hit required by the Faction)
65.9% reached 250 hits + (1% of 25k hain)
52.4% reached the 305 hits + (the “true” 1%, 25k/82 members)
Median hits value : 320 hits => 53.3 hits per day (50% of our member did more than 53,3 hits/day, 50% did less)
Average hits value : 255 hits => 42.5 hits per day
Top 15% Hitters : average hits of 555 hits => 92.5 hits per day
Top 5 hitters : average hits of 599 hits => 99.8 hits per day

And nine months later, here we are. God damnit

Well, I didn't see that coming. I guess I should be grateful to Pony, because I'm not sure I could've ever gotten enough strength together to make a forum post. But over the last few months, after a very rocky start keelos and I first became friends and eventually even more than friends.

She didn't have a super easy life. She had quite a few problems IRL. But nonetheless she always was sweet to people. She always wanted to be friends with everyone on torn and just share her music or humor. She had her own faction (which she eventually left for Mentos to be here with me) which she loved and supported. We've spent countless hours playing games, watching movies or just talking. She always was a blast to spend time with, if you could get over her loving to talk ;)

I don't know exactly where I'm going with this. I just found this post and were hit with feels again I guess. I really miss her and I'll always love her. Rest in peace cutie.

Well, at least I got that service one time.
