Has anyone here ever experienced sleep paralysis or lucid dreaming? Personally I have experienced both and while lucid dreaming can be fun, overall I do not recommend either.
Sleep paralysis is much harder to control and is usually something people don't try to accomplish. When you are asleep, your brain releases a neurotoxin that blocks impulses from your brain to your muscles to prevent you from moving in your sleep and thus preventing you from hurting yourself while sleeping. When experiencing sleep paralysis, a person has either awaken or is dreaming so vividly that it feels as if they are awake, and can't move. If you have seen The Haunting of Hill House, the character Nell experiences these. They thing that makes this paranormal, however, is the common experience of the feeling of a presence with you during these episodes. While it is scary enough that there is the feeling of being paralyzed, the feeling of being watched or held down is equally terrifying.
Lucid dreaming on the other hand is quite different. Lucid dreaming is where you take control of your dreams. It is where you realize in your dream that you are in fact dreaming and remain in a dream-state and have control over the dream. The idea is to be in control and live out your wildest fantasies while in the dreams. This does take a bit of practice to master, but it is very do-able and personally I have been able to control my dreams through various methods. There is some danger to this as well though. Insanity can definitely be derived from some of the behaviors that you would need to practice in order to control your dreams. However, some say that if you are not careful, you will astral project instead of dream. This could leave your body open to spirits and demons to inhabit it and causing you to essentially become a spirit yourself trying to reclaim your body.
Personally I have experienced both. My sleep paralysis story took place in Dallas, Texas, when I was visiting some friends. When I suddenly awoke, I was unable to physically move. I tried the tricks that I learned while learning about lucid dreaming, wiggling your toes and clinching your fists helps activate the brain and body. However, the entire time I felt as if there was a dark shadowy figure standing at the corner of my bed. Aside from the outline, the only thing i could make out from him was that he was carrying a large silver Bowie knife. It took everything in me to eventually kick off the covers and sit up, only to find the figure gone.
When I was fooling around with lucid dreaming, I did have a lot of fun with it. I would carry totems(like in Inception), write things on my hands(in dream state these inscriptions won't appear), trying light switches(electrical components don't work too well in dream state), also ensuring that I can in fact read(reading numbers and words is exceptionally difficult while dreaming). When some of these triggers would occur in my dreams, I would understand that I am dreaming. Ever fought someone in your dream, and couldn't win? Well now you're mutha ****in Goku.
However, I did have an experience once that made me want to stop trying to practice lucid dreaming altogether. It was when I was confronted by "her." Back when I was in high school, I was driving home some friends from a sporting event at our school. While on our way, we heard a horrific scream. Being naive teenagers we shrugged it off to being any number of things, including a Florida panther which does in fact have a roar that sounds like a woman's scream and panthers were spotted close to where we were. Turns out, we were wrong. A woman had been brutally ****d and murdered, and we did nothing. I gave my testimony and time in which we heard all of this but even to this day I still feel some guilt as to what happened. I say all of this, because once when I was lucid dreaming, she confronted me. She was bloodied, and covered in dirt. Looked like an American version of the girl from the grudge. By far the scariest dream I have ever had.
Thanks, for reading this. Have any of you experienced anything like this at all?
DETROIT -- It's a video of the unknown that is posing many questions: What is it? Is it real? And what is it doing there? A family in Highland, Michigan, believes their house is haunted and what's even more disturbing is that whatever is haunting the home is doing harm to their little girl. Heather Brough and Joshua Higgins say they couldn't believe what they saw on their nanny cam. "It's almost like she sees something that we don't," Brough said. It's an image she and Higgins say is haunting their home. "It was chilling," Higgins said. "It was literally a chill down your spine, like that 'what if' factor -- is this what I just saw?" Caught on the couple's nanny cam video a few weeks ago is what appears to be something moving in front of the baby crib. The couple says it appears to be a ghost. "I freaked out," Brough said. "I stopped what I was doing and I ran upstairs and grabbed my daughter." She says this so-called ghost scratched her daughter Lily and attacked her too. "It scares us that it could do something else," Brough said. "I mean, there was a morning I woke up and I felt like someone's hands were around my neck." A team of paranormal investigators came in and tried to answer some of the couple's questions and concerns. Higgins' father Jim says it may be someone who lived in this house before. "The gentleman that lived here originally committed suicide apparently by jumping out this window, which is one story down," said Joshua's father, Jim Higgins, while recalling a story he was told about the home. The couple says they don't know why this so-called ghost is targeting them, but say they don't want any part of it. "It's not physically just going after her, it feels like it's going after myself too," Brough said. "I couldn't get an explanation out of it, so it's freaky is what it is," Higgins said. The couple says for now they are staying at the home in a room together with Lily until they have enough money to move.
What 4 artists would you put on your Mount Rushmore of guitarists? Personally I would put artists on that truly changed music. Changed the direction in which music was going forever. For me these are not necessarily the most talented, but the most influential.
Has anyone watched this show? It is super cheesy and at times predictable, because it is a Syfy show after all. However, there are certain parts of the show, especially in season 3, where the show gets pretty deep into the human condition. It really is pretty awesome. Anyone else watch it?
I beg to differ a lot on that. While this film looks like it will be different, Aquaman was practically a copy/paste of a marvel film. Same with Wonder Woman and Shazam.
So basically going with the theme from the guitarists. Pick your top 4 bassists. Although I rank mine off of influence, you can rank yours off of whatever basis you want, be it be best band, or most technical or talented, rhythm patterns.
So here are my top 4 bassists:
Geddy Lee Roger Waters Paul McCartney Les Claypool
I think that may have been sarcasm. Anyways, I think this is going to be a turning point movie for DC and not in a good way. Aquaman was very Marvel-esque and honestly I think that is what people want out of their comic book movies. While the Nolan-verse Batman Trilogy was dark, brooding and awesome, I just think that that only really works in that trilogy. Hell even Deadpool makes fun of how dark DC movies have been. So by going back to dark after Aquaman was pretty light, doesn't seem to be the right direction. Idk i just hope it doesnt suck.
