In Ranked War Matching and Ranks
So I've been harassing the devs about this for a while now. But I want to bring my thoughts here. Because I think a lot of the friction players are feeling could be mitigated, but we don't currently have the visual/api information.
What the problem is
At present the Diamond ranking that we can see is a bit wonky. It is organized with all of the D3 factions on top and so on down the line. This is a change from how it used to be displayed. However, factions still move in the old way. Arcadia is currently matched against Monarch Chrysalis, when we win (they said they weren't up for a real fight this week because they were in a post elim hangover) we will jump from 34th to just ahead of Chrysalis in 19th place. I have observed this from many factions and submitted a bug report because this didn't seem in keeping with Pedro's ranking/matchmaking model.
Below diamond everyone simply gets mashed into one big pile at each division. If you are P3 or G2 or whatever there seems to be no rhyme or reason as to how your faction is displayed there. I had a look at the api data thanks to Omapnx and couldn't come up with anything.
What we need
The solution is to have the RW HoF display us in order according to our funny stats*performance metric. I am not saying show us that value (although that would be sweet). I am saying that if we could see where we were placed according to that matchmaking metric it would improve our understanding of why things were happening. Also, we keep hearing people talk about not moving up after all these wins or moving down after all these losses. If you could see your relative positional ranking move based on wins/losses people would understand what was going on and we might see a whole lot less wailing and gnashing of teeth.
Factions shouldn't be moving divisions all the time like they were previously. A division is likely to be sticky and take a lot of time to move out of (unless you are on the edge). But our ranking within divisions should be changing quite regularly.
