Dual wield melee weapons
What TornLife's research has established about Dual wield melee weapons, and the questions players asked about it.
What TornLife has verified
- The Torn Wiki (2025 capture) lists four dual melee weapons: Dual Axes and Dual Hammers (Clubbing), Dual Samurai Swords and Dual Scimitars (Slashing). Each has damage 70 - 75 and accuracy 54 - 59, with stealth 4.1, 4.5, 3.6 and 4.3 respectively. (documented; Weapon › Melee — Melee Weapons (rows 2/4), )
- Players in 2014 described a Dual Wield Melee education course in the Combat education line, unlocked by a mission (Ninja Legacy / beating Kenishi) and costing money. It disappeared around August 2014, when the mission system was reworked, leaving 11 combat courses instead of 12. (player reports; Dual Wield Melee Course ?What happened to it?, )
- In 2014 the dual wield melee course and its mission were unlocked via the old Mission system and education; players described a mission (fighting Kineshi) that unlocked an education course giving dual melee weapons. Chedburn said in July 2014 both were completely removed for now. (confirmed by Torn; Missing Dual Wield Combat Course, )
- The Torn Wiki's Samurai Sword page warns it is not to be confused with Dual Samurai Swords, which are a separate item. The single Samurai Sword is a Melee Slashing weapon. (documented; Samurai Sword, )
- All four dual melee weapons are listed with the source 'Old Mission System'. The wiki does not list a current shop or crate source for them. (documented; Weapon › Melee — Melee Weapons (rows 2/4), )
- Wiki item descriptions say only a well trained individual would dare to dual wield the Dual Axes and Dual Samurai Swords. Dual Axes is item ID 289 and Dual Samurai Swords is ID 292, both Melee weapons (2021 capture). (documented; Dual Samurai Swords (infobox), )
- Chedburn said in 2014 he expected the dual melee weapons to return at some point for an equivalent cost, but did not know where. Players asked whether any way to get them would remain. (confirmed by Torn; Missing Dual Wield Combat Course, )
- The Melee Cache cannot give dual weapons such as Dual Hammers and Dual Samurai Swords, nor Old Mission system weapons, so dual melee weapons with bonuses or Yellow/Orange/Red quality cannot come from caches. (documented; Melee Cache › Contents, )
- The wiki describes Dual Axes as a Melee Clubbing weapon. (documented; Dual Axes, )
- Dual Berettas, the only Secondary dual weapon, cannot use mods that exclude dual weapons and get half the effect of equipped mods, but can equip two of the same mod. Not stated for melee dual weapons. (documented; Dual 92G Berettas, )
- Dual Berettas are obtained from city finds or the Mission reward shop (~32 credits), or bought from players, one by one since they do not stack. This shows current mission-shop acquisition of a dual weapon, though it is not melee. (documented; Dual 92G Berettas › Obtaining, )
- The Dual Wield Melee (DWM) combat education course and its associated mission were removed from the game entirely; a developer said in 2014 that dual melee weapons would likely return at some point but did not know when. (confirmed by Torn; Missing Dual Wield Combat Course, )
